Like they’re on a soundstage in Hollywood that Bennett owns, and the players are all cool staying with the team beacuse it’s really Los Angeles life? I get what Free Darko is saying, and I get the levels on which they’re saying it. But I’ve largely come to the conclusion that it’s not for me and will never will be. Because I don’t understand how you can go to each and every game and not get attached, and not form opinions of players– more than players, really, people– based on what you see. And ...
How the Economy is Affecting Blogs and the Sports Blogosphere

A little while ago, MC Bias of Moderately Cerebral Bias asked several bloggers, both full-time and independent, for their opinions on how the economy will affect the sports blogosphere. Whereas MCBias posted the answers of the full-time bloggers on his site, I asked him if I could run my answers here. (By the way, take a couple of minutes and read his post. He did a really good job summarizing the views of various bloggers.) Surprisingly, many of the bloggers quoted by MC Bias actually believed sports blogs and blogging in general will sustain their success, if not increase their ...

One draft analysis that doesn’t reflect well on the Mavs’ draft ’success.’
Last year’s Lakers were a solid team even before the Gasol trade. Just how solid, you ask? Try Mavericks solid. From Mike Fisher of DallasBasketball.com: “The Mavs owner’s references were so specific, it caused me to reflect back: What was the Lakers’ situation a year ago? ...

... It's difficult to talk about NASCAR fandom in the same way we talk about being a fan of, say, the Chicago Bulls. It's, emphatically, not rooting for laundry, but rooting for one man's personality, laden with different corporate brand connotations. Jimmie Johnson and Lowe's are a package deal. Rusty Wallace and Miller beer. Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Budweiser Mountain Dew. Driver celebrity is a different concept than other sports' versions of fame.
