The Cardinals finally got Trever Miller to sign on the dotted line. Which will be longer, the elapsed time the Cards spent on the contract or the elapsed time he'll be on the mound this season? Honestly, though, this physical issue apparently played into the Cardinals' hand. The initial reports way back when said that Miller was going to sign a two-year deal, but now it's just a one-year contract. That's probably better for the Redbirds because relievers tend to get a little flaky and it's hard to trust them over the long haul anyway. Plus, if something blows out, at least you ...

I received an e-mail over the weekend from Alex Eisenberg over at Baseball-Intellect.com, alerting me to his analysis of Nico Vasquez‘ swing and projections going forward.
From Eisenberg’s article Scouting Cardinals Prospect Niko Vasquez:
Vasquez is coordinated and fairly agile with a strong arm at the shortstop position, but questions about his overall foot speed lead some to doubt his ability to stay at the position. He hasn’t appeared to have had many problems thus far in his young career, however.

On behalf of my agent, Tony La Russa, and Dave Duncan, I would like to sincerely thank you for your successful acquisition of Anheuser-Busch this past weekend. I’m a Busch Light guy and was born in the Midwest, so the news is disheartening.
Nevertheless, I stink. Bad. My arm is freaking noodle and I’m a complete mental case. That said, I thank you for stealing the local headlines and resident talk show topics.
