Super Duper Toronto Blue Jays Round Table Part 2
The highly anticipated second half of the round table. Some absolutely great answers, with more of a focus on the upcoming 2009 season. Big thanks to everyone involved! Once again a who’s who of Toronto Blue Jays bloggers.

Bits on a Monday Morning

Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was good and quiet, at least till I looked at middle son's report card, that weren't so fun. So yesterday wasn't so great but that's life. Anyway....
Over at Hardball Times they have a piece where their writers remember John Brattain. One Writer, Chris Jaffe, mentions his 'top 10 lists' and shows a great example:
Top 10 ways you know that you're too much into sabermetrics:
10. You don't care if your kid gets A's B's or C's on his report card, you just want to know how high he is above the ...

Programming note: If you are a reader of this site (hi, Mom!) you may have noticed a few excellent contributions coming at you from Lloyd the Barber. Their quality was so much better than this site's usual output, I contemplated turning the place over to him permanently and sailing off into the horizon. Anyway, he was nice enough to let me preview the Yankees upcoming season over at his site. Do check it out. ...
I Am Going to Do My Darnedest to Get Excited for the WBC
Published 2/25/2009 by Rob Iracane at Walkoff Walk
Remember the 2006 World Baseball Classic? Yeah, me neither. I spent most of March 2006 watching the first season of Big Love on HBO and the twelfth season of Survivor on CBS; I didn't have much time to pay attention to an artificial World Cup ripoff that barely featured any of my favorite players. Plus, I had a nasty case of March Madness! I might have paid attention to the semis and the finals of the WBC if the United States hadn't been embarrassingly eliminated after that 2-1 loss to Mexico in the second round. (Both runs were driven in by sassy senior Jorge Cantu).
But I ...

The weekend has arrived at the Tao of Stieb, and by now, you should all be well aware of what that entails. (What, another shitty post by the weekend contributor? Short answer - yes.) This week, I'm going to exercise the powers and creative control vested in me by our benevolent benefactor, the Tao, and indulge in a little game of "If". So play along, won't you friends? Cue soothing background music.... If....Roy Halladay is physically able to pull his uniform on for 33 starts, and If....Jesse Litsch proves that he's more Jim Clancy than ...
My 2 3 Blogs: 2009 MLB Preview Edition - The Toronto Blue Jays

Today we have an exclusive special guest contributor to the season previews. Lloyd the Barber runs the Jays blog Ghostrunner on First, one of the best blogs found across the interwebs. As a Jays fan he comes to you ingrained with a sense of hopelessness for his beloved team's plight that allows for him to write a far better post that I ever could. Do enjoy. The Drunk Jays Fans Guide To The Interwebs Version Two Point Ugh
Published 1/23/2009 by dustin.parkes@gmail.com (Dustin Parkes) at Drunk Jays Fans
It was around this time last year that we first revisited that magical period in the late eighties when a New Coked up Max Headroom invented the internet with a Commodore Amiga. Since then, things have spiraled downward to the point where more than a dozen Blue Jays blogs can be found polluting the blogosphere with an unconscionable amount of homerism being spewed out on an unsuspecting public at any given second. They vary from the unapologetically boring to balls out wrong, but Jays blogs are all stunningly beautiful in their own way. Let’s kick things off with a quick trip through the ...
Rocco Following In Julio Lugo’s Footsteps
Published 1/9/2009 by David Chalk at Bugs & Cranks
Thursday brought the sad news that the 6th Greatest Devil Ray Ever (so far) Rocco Baldelli, aka the Italian Stallion, aka the Woonsocket Rocket, has followed in the footsteps of the 5th Greatest Devil Ray ever, and signed with the division rival Boston Red Sox.
And while most of your better internet writers of Devil Ray Town are pretending to bemoan this, I, Cosell-like, will tell it like it is — THAT GIMPY MOTHERFUCKER HASN’T DONE MUCH OF ANYTHING FOR US SINCE 2003. (Apologies to Lloyd the Barber.)
I’m just wondering what ...
Objects in the Mirror May Be Closer Than They Appear

... The gnashing of teeth and punching of bats will reach a fever pitch this week in Chicago, if the Jays pitching shuts down the Quintin-less Sox. But Pale Hosers should take heart in one thing: the Twins really aren’t a good team. Their recent trip through Toronto exposed them as frauds in mine eyes. You can ride smallball, fundamentals and dumb luck for a little while, but not doing any one facet of the game particularly well will catch up. So enjoy your October baseball Chicago. I doubt you’ll lose sleep if one of ...
