O's Sign Lance Cormier - Why Should We Care?
Published 1/22/2008 by Maryland Orioles' Fan at Oriole Post - Baltimore Orioles Analysis & News; The World of Baseball and Beyond
Who is Lance Cormier? Why should we care? He's another body, but at least he's not Victor Zambrano. The upside: He's young. The downside: He got hammered in the NL. Look at his stats on Baseball Reference -- there's not much to see or be hopeful about. Oh yeah, but he's still young and a warm body. A change of scenery may help this guy, but he's nothing more than a backend for the starting rotation and his salary for 2008 makes him a worthwhile risk considering the state of the Baltimore Orioles. Yes for the most part Huddy is back to his Oakland ways in terms of performance and of course Smoltz is there bum shoulder and all. But it s after that, the water gets muddier than the Mississippi river. -==2+3==- Right now the Braves are running a 2+3 in the rotation and have pretty much since the start of the season. Meaning we have two TOR guys and the rest muddle in the middle. We knew coming out of the gate in ST we were going to be in for a right when it comes to the starting rotation. There was the Mark Redman experiment that went south quicker than Hampton going back on the 60-Day DL. Maybe I was putting to much hope into Hampton s return to the rotation, but we all knew that he would at the least, make a shaky rotation a bit better. Yes there was a g ...

Game 59 - Open Thread

... Lance Cormier - Cormier didn't exactly impress in Sunday's season debut, allowing the Cubs eight earned runs in four innings. The right-hander, who missed the season's first two months because of a strained right triceps muscle, surrendered three homers and lacked the command that he'd shown in Spring Training. Cormier struggled to locate both his cut fastball and curveball, which are his top two pitches. ...
