The Lakers came to town last night and took advantage of a McGrady-less Houston team (now 9-31 when he doesn’t play) and fought off a late surge of almost historic proportions to win at the Toyota Center 102-94 in front of a record home crowd. The Rockets showed they can’t spell quit if you spot them both vowels; the bench coming out and, with a never-say-die attitude, making it awful scary for the Zen Master. Coach Phil yanked the ice bags off of his superstar’s knees and put Kobe back in after he had thought he was done for the day. With under ten minutes in the game remaining, the Kobe Bryants were up by 27 points at 93-66. But they couldn’t add to their team total til the game was almost over and Houston had snuck out of there with a shocking comeback.
