The Redskins Hire Their Blogger

How active of a blog reader are you? Where do you get your Redskins news? And how many times a week do you check Redskins Insider and Extreme Skins ? Yahoo Team Fantasy Rankings: #30 - 49ers
Published 20 days ago by Fooch at Niners Nation: Front Page Posts
Yahoo has been compiling a variety of lists discussing everything from the 11 coolest helmets in pro football history to nnon-football athletes who would excel in the NFL. The one of interest ot 49ers fans is their "Juggernaut Index." According to Yahoo, the Juggernaut Index is:
...our annual attempt to rank every NFL team for fantasy purposes. We're not concerned with real-life wins and losses here. No, here we just care about imaginary winning. If an NFL team gains lots of yardage, limits turnovers, and scores when they reach the red zone, then you'll want to own their ...
Colts tie Packers for helmet greatness
Published 6/5/2008 by BigBlueShoe at Stampede Blue: Front Page Posts
... MDJ's Yahoo blog (Shutdown Corner) rated the Colts helmet 3rd overall in the Coolest Helmet(s) in History. The Colts tied the Green Bay Packers for 3rd place. Both helments, accoridng to MDJ, are cooler than the Cowboys helmets. Damn right!
They're the kinds of helmets the fans of the respective teams will love, but non-fans might not regard particularly highly. You might look at the Packers helmet and say, "Ooooh, you've got a white 'G' in a green oval, how special. The only cool white 'G' I've ever heard of is Eminem" (note: you ...
Wanted: Yahoo! Sports Olympics Blogger
Published 5/30/2008 by Jamie Mottram at Mr. Irrelevant
Since last October, Yahoo! Sports has been hiring bloggers for and building a blogs & community foundation with new sites such as Ball Don’t Lie, Shutdown Corner, From the Marbles, Big League Stew, The Dagger, Puck Daddy and Roto Arcade. We’ll continue doing that with new blogs for college football, MMA and more (probably soccer, golf, etc.) upcoming. One thing giving us trouble, however, is what to do with the Olympics, and that’s where you come in.
We’re looking to hire a temporary-yet-full-time blogger for August (and perhaps a bit longer) to ...

... day I do a lengthy Q&A with a hockey blogger. And after spending days on end in an apartment full of Jingle Cats castoffs, Greg admitted he talks a lot. Was he surprised when the job came up? "There’s been this sort of trend of going out to find bloggers to create content for major media websites," Wyshynski said. "I think it’s the right call [to go full-time] because I think that’s the way things are trending. I don’t think that, if they wanted to make the hockey blog as good as the football blog is, the basketball blog — I mean ...

Bengals Draft For Needs
Published 4/29/2008 by NFL Adam at The Hater Nation
... as the lawless marauders, just bad employers. So much for the Bengals commitment to character guys which lasted, what, one season. Like Marvin Lewis finally accepted the inevitable and said, "(expletive) it, I need to win some damn games," and sold himself out. And what's worse, the Bengals probably didn't need to reach for him in the fifth round, as some expected him to be an undrafted free agent. This is going to be some year in Cincinnati. After two weeks of blogging I finally got my big break. Haha. I just finished my first post for Yahoo Sports. Every Wednesday I will create a post for Yahoo which I think it's going to be pretty cool stuff. It's funny cause I don't feel nervous about putting anything on my own website, but I've been worried about every sentence I typed for that blog. I mean, I really don't want to sound like an idiot football player on the first day of my writing career. Anyways, I did a post about draft day when I was a rookie, so everyone will have to go ...

MJD at Shutdown Corner revealed today that Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are already married?

Asked if Simpson was planning to marry Tony Romo, whom she had been dating since last November, Tina laughed and responded, “Jessica is ...

Sports By Brooks pointed this out earlier, but it bears repeating: This might have been the first Super Bowl with any interesting news almost entirely reported by blog. And it's not a matter of "indie" bloggers coming in to take the piss out of everybody either.
As SBB mentions, Chris Mottram of The Sporting Blog, Mark Mosely of ESPN's Hashmarks, Michael David Smith of Fanhouse, MJD over at Yahoo and Dan Steinberg of DC Sports Bog changed the way the game was covered in the last week. In the biggest media event on the sports calendar, ...
