BRUINS SEASON PREVIEW

... the classic 5-4 Game 6 victory. It's not going to be pretty European style hockey like the Canadiens play. It won't be star-studded offensive onslaughts like the Red Wings. It won't be cheap shot goonery like the Flyers. It will be a healthy mix of scrappy, determined physical play with offensive firepower, and stingy defense. I - for one - am more excited for this season than any other Bruins season in recent memory. Sources: NHL.com ESPN.com ...

But the left wing on the Kings’ first line is a question mark with O’Sullivan still unsigned and two candidates to fill that roster spot have performed well in training camp—24-year-old left wing Matt Moulson, who was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on September 1, 2006, and 19-year-old phenom Oscar Moller, who was selected by the Kings in the second round (52nd overall) in the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft. ...

Lower Body Fantasy Thoughts

by Ryan If you don't know about James Mirtle, we can't be friends. Thems the rules around these parts. What makes sites like Mirtle's and Kuklas Korner so useful is that they catch pretty much everything you will need to know about hockey. This is especially helpful when you miss a few days, like I did this weekend. I'll admit I don't have many thoughts on the Sabres just yet, but I do have quite a few questions about this. Clubs no longer are required to disclose the specific nature of player injuries. Clubs are, however, required to disclose that a player ...
The New NHL.com: It’s Mission Impossible 2

... . It seems like most of the basic things you’d want out of a league’s website are there, and you can get enough information to sound like you know what you’re talking about. Other than that, it’s a backwards-logic, confusing implosion of hockey. Good news, sports fans. The NHL feels your pain, and has come out with a sequel. MI:2 kept things simple. They gave us a plot that we all could follow (Dougray Scott looks evil - so he must be evil!), the budget got bigger (which means more sweeping crane shots of forlorn characters), and Thandie Newton ...

Hitting Analysis of 2007-2008 Part 2

... I did a few months ago. I put off the follow-up to Part 1 because I wasn't quite confident in the accuracy of the hit results I got game to game from the NHL's game reports (pulled from NHL.com). I noticed that some games somehow had way more hits than others. For example, the Devils' seventy-seventh game of the season was against the Rangers at MSG and a total of 104 hits were recorded. In comparison, the Devils' next game was against Philadelphia at the Rock, and despite how those games get, only 21 total hits were logged. I found it hard to believe that there would be ...
