In case you missed it, here is an article at On the Baseline about what the WTA Tour can do to to improve the popularity of tennis (as a spectator sport). For the most part, I agree, especially with the suggestion to make sure the top players compete in the Tier I events (instead of allowing them to be bought off by big purses in upstart tournaments). The ATP doesn't allow its top players to just sell themselves to the highest bidder, and neither should the WTA. It's greedy and bad for the game. I would add another consideration though. ...
