... Maravich died at the age of 40 of a heart attack attributed to having been born with only one coronary artery instead of two. Maravich was a legendary scorer, holding the all-time NCAA record to this day, averaging 44.2 points per game. His life after basketball was muddled, as he struggled to find an identity.
