... games pitched, enough to place him 14th on the all-time list. In the past three seasons, Craig Counsell has hit 14, 12, and 14 doubles. If he raps out 14 in 2009, he'll have 200 for his career. When Ryan Braun hits his 27th home run of the season, he'll become only the sixth player in major league history to hit 100 home runs over his first three seasons. If he reaches 41 homers, he'll tie the record held by Ralph Kiner and Albert Pujols. Prince Fielder is two inside-the-park home runs away from 500 career hits. ...

... Palmeiro. Was he as great as those guys? Nope. BUT he was solid offensive catcher (he batted .299 his rookie year) he had unusual speed (21 steals in 1988) and got some big hits, including a walk off hit on June 6, 1987 against the Yankees. Later with the Orioles and teammate Rafael Palmeiro he developed into a 20 home run hitter. I'm sure Brewers fans wish he had some of that pop in Milwaukee. ... be doing you a disservice if I didn’t point out this guy’s name. He was popular in both the clubhouse and prison. Maybe he should get some CLR for it. I demand that we steal this guy’s nickname and apply it to Joey Gathright. Discovery Channel was going to replace Shark Week with this. Once we’re done mining the comedy gold from his other two names, we can always focus on his middle name. Didn’t he manage Rick Vaughn, Jake Taylor, ...

Howard, Fielder Need Supersized Deals to Pay for Supersized Meals
Published 1/22/2009 by Rob Iracane at Walkoff Walk
With arbitration hearings on the horizon, it seems that the two greediest players are also two of the most rotund. Fangraphs is reporting that Prince Fielder and Ryan Howard are, respectively, asking for $2 million and $4 million above what their clubs are offering. Howard set a record last year by increasing his salary eleven times over via arbitration and is seeking $18 million for 2009, while Fielder is looking for a mere $8 million. So, are they worth it? Ask Mark Attanasio and the answer would be a big fat no. The Brewers owner ...

WHO CARES if Prince Fielder is fat? I sure as hell don't. You shouldn't either. Does it seriously bother you? He's our first baseman, not our CF or SS. He doesn't have to be nimble. His job is to hit bombs. I'm talking about value here people. I'm talking about "what is his job?" What is Prince Fielder here to do? Derrek Lee in ASG?
Published 7/6/2008 by Graham (noreply@blogger.com) at Unrestricted View
With the eye injury to Lance Berkman, will Derrek Lee get a his deserved nod on the National League All Star roster? Or, will Berkman still start? I know the Chicago Cubs already have seven players on the team, but who would jump Derrek Lee? Mark Teixeira? Prince Fielder? I just don't see it. Well, I see it, but I don't agree with it. As I posted with my choices for starters for the All-Star Game, I see Lee as ahead of Tex and Prince, but will MLB pick one of those guys to validate their team's season? With ...

In his quasi-rookie campaign, he got off to a great start with 28 homers and a .347 OBP. Sure, we was only a bit above average for a first baseman, but it's scary to think what he'll become in the near future. Near meaning "next year"? Maybe. Cincinatti Reds ...
