... e kinds of numbers, one would think Mets fans must get a bit twitchy when it times to close out games. You could go with heâs been highly unlucky, I mean look at the Batting Average of Balls in Play for August. .414! Everything it seems if falling into play. Thatâs going to come down, itâs unsustainable. To sum it up, August kicked Billy Wagner in the man parts with reckless abandon. As the rest of the month plays out, youâd think with the schedule they have it would be easy to waltz into to the post season as the National League East Champs. They get to play the dregs of the NL East, 7 more games against the Marlins, 4 more against the Nationals and 1 game against the St. Louis Cardinals (a make up game from 6/28). The Mets right now are virtually gift wrapping the National League East for the Philadelphia Phillies, which would be billed as a collapse of epic proportions.
