... Ray Durham looks like the best offensive option, having hit .289/.380/.432 (he's also the youngest of the three). The problem though, is that Durham's never played a game at third-base. In fact, he hasn't played any position besides second in his entire pro career, so how well could he translate to the hot corner? ...

He has the highest career on base percentage, the highest slugging percentage, the best OPS, scored the most runs, had the most total bases, the highest number of doubles and home runs, more RBIS and more walks than any hitter in White Sox history. Imagine how good he'd be if he had more than one dimension like Earl Cunningham! (Cunningham never made the majors.) They range from relatively expensive ($60) to dirt cheap ($5), and if you run a blog or just use BR as often as I do, they're a nice way to promote your site or just say thank you to BR for making all this information available. And if you've got nothing to promote, you could always, y'know, throw a cheap plug to BCB. So with that said, here's the list and a link to each player's page, sorted by price: J.J. Brewers Cruise For a Switch-Hitter in SF …
Published 7/21/2008 by Ben Schwartz at Can't Stop The Bleeding
... In a direct slap in the face to the Our Year dreams of Cub fans, and Rickie Weeks’ .218 on the season, the Milwaukee Brewers dealt two prospects and some cash to add Ray Durham’s switch-thitting .293 bat to the NL Central. The Crew’s Doug Melvin will immediately bench Durham, as back-up for Rickie Weeks. For what, a week? At least it’s a bench in a play off race. As the Milwaukee ...

... I think it's a nice move by Melvin. Durham adds a left-handed bat (actually switch) to the bench and will likely start in place of Weeks a couple of times a week, according to Yost. A strict platoon seems unlikely based on Yost's comments, but "The Sugarman" has a .396 OBP against right-handed pitchers on the year compared to a .304 for Weeks, so some kind of a loose platoon might be in order. Durham brings a nice OBP (.385) and batting average (.293), some speed and a little pop. He is not great with the glove as his range is suspect, but he is serviceable ...

With Barry Bonds gone, this team will need to find a new face for the offense. Rowand is hardly a world-beater, and he'll be hitting fifth behind Bengie Molina. That's not a situation any team should have. Rich Aurilia, Ray Durham, and Vizquel are still with the team; maybe Kevin Frandsen ...
