The Second Annual Cardinal Blogger Awards Ballot
Published 8 days ago by Cardinal 70 at C70 At The Bat
You only thought the voting was over.
Whether you were on the left or the right in the presidential
election, hopefully you got out to your local polling place and cast your
ballot. As important as that was, there
is something that makes your vote count even more—the second annual Cardinal
Blogger Awards.
Last year’s CBA was actually the first project for the
United Cardinal Bloggers and was a reasonable success for an initial
outing. This year, however, I hope to at
least double the number of ...

... in these threads, but in AP’s case, I agree with Deaner. Pay the man. Future first-ballot Hall of Famers should play their entire careers for one team.
However, I’m not sure when the appropriate time is to start negotiating his next contract. I wouldn’t start now; I’b probably wait until the next off-season to initiate discussions, and try to get something done in earnest after they pick up his 2011 option.

... the modern game results in player movement to new teams, but we appreciate the contributions of our prodigal sons. We acknowledge the strong efforts of our opposition (unless they are Cubs). We realize that we are blessed with a tradition of excellence, and we embrace the responsibility of stewarding a "crown jewel" franchise. Daniel (Redbirds Fun): I'm in complete agreement on this. I don't think I can add on anything else. Haedar (Redbird Ramblings): I got nothing to add here. I think you guys basically covered ...

... and Shumaker to perform the way that they did this year ever again. Ankiel also seems to be injury prone, which could plague him the rest of his career. So I don’t think the Cards should listen to offers UNLESS they include multiple top-notch pitchers. Good fundamental teams (like the Cards usually are) can learn to produce runs without a lot of big bats but pitching doesn’t work like that… either you have it or you don’t.

United Cardinal Bloggers midsummer roundtable
Published 7/15/2008 by Pip at Fungoes
... Redbird Ramblings: I think you gotta bring colby up to see if he can give this team a spark. he can patrol centerfield and play great defense and then turn around and bat leadoff or 2nd for you. he is the guy with the "high impact" potential that just my revitalize this team; right now, they look like they were hot during the first half of the 2008 season and are just starting to play like their actual selves; that is scary. I say, bring Raz up and let him play. ...
