... is the only above average second baseman in this group. He’s a superb fielder and may be in line for some positive regression after a rather unlucky average on balls in play. Rickie Weeks is an enigma. He has as much potential as anyone, but he has confounded the scouts, and his stats are just as confusing. Last year among batters who qualified for the batting title, his .345 average on groundballs was best and .527 average on line drives in the league. I don’t know what to make of him. ...

... LF: Wily Mo, he's a vegetarian. He don't eat meat but he sure likes the bone.
Frankie Rodriguez, RP: Relax! Mets fans, you won't have to worry about Billy Wagner blowing important games anymore. Still, with his sky-high walk rate, I foresee many Mets-induced shrimp videos.
Jeremy Bonderman, SP: Missed most of '08 with a blood clot. Oddly enough, the blood clot was invited to Tigers spring training and will compete for the left field job.

Just how bad is Rickie Weeks?

... Obviously 2008 wasn't a "breakout" year for Dick. Again it was another "just your basic" year. He ended last year with a line of .234/.342/.398. Not exactly mind-blowing. For his 4 year career: his line looks like .245/.352/.406. He has also never played more than 129 games and his defense is mediocre at best. If you compare him to the other Brewer "stars" (ie...JJ, Braun, Prince, & Hart), if you ignore the last 6 weeks of 2007, Rickie has never made a considerable "jump" in productivity. JJ responded with 2 injury riddled campaigns to be an all-star and a consistent player ...

... favorable contracts, along the lines of Swisher or Rob Mackowiak. But could it be possible that the Quentin trade marks a change in philosophy? The Sox have been redeveloping other teams' No. 1 draft picks for years in the pitching department (Matt Thornton, Gavin Floyd, John Danks), so it's not out of the question that the Sox could cycle younger by that route with the rest of the roster. One example trade off the top of my head: Javier Vazquez for Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks . Two underperforming guys whose strengths (durability for Vazquez, athleticism ...

... for Rickie Weeks . The Brewers, who recently had two scouts watching the Orioles, are interested in Roberts, but it remains to be seen whether they are ready to give up on Weeks. Roberts, a more accomplished leadoff hitter and better defender than Weeks, is a more natural fit for a contender. The Orioles, meanwhile, could be patient with Weeks defensively, much as the Twins are being patient with the erratic Carlos Gomez. Weeks would be another young, athletic building block to go with Adam Jones and Nick Markakis. A straight-up deal might be out of the question, considering ...
