... it weird that Miguel Cabrera led the AL in homers last year with 37? Jacobs doesn’t belong on the field against left-handed pitching, but using him in a platoon could make for a dangerous combination. The problem is that the right-handed hitting Ryan Shealy has shown a rather strong reverse platoon split in his career, and even if Billy Butler could handle playing the field, the Royals would be left without a DH. Still, anything ought to be better than Ross Gload.

Teahen at 2nd could work

... Replacing Teahen with Callaspo dropped it to 4.72 rpg, which is basically 21 runs over the course of a full season. Now if Callaspo was an above average defender you could wave that off but he's not so if Teahen at 2nd makes KC better offensively then they should pursue it. (Some may give Trey kudos for thinking outside the box but I'm not because it was outside the box thinking that gave a guy with a .348 SLG pct most of the starts at 1st base last year.) ...

... is the favorite to get the most playing time at first base. He was awful last year, but this winter he revealed he was hurt for much of the year. I think he can redeem himself, and he's off to a great start in spring training. He's a much better fielder too, so it makes sense to play him at first base and DH Butler. Dayton inexplicably signed Ross Gload to a two year deal this winter. I like Ross, but he's a bench player, and probably a luxury for a team like the Royals. If he's getting 400-500 plate appearances for you, you're in trouble. He's also a guy that should be ...

... . He could put up a .900 OPS for the Royals next season. His defense leaves something to be desired, which I presume is what this guy was acquired for.
