... RP Q: What's a Brandon Duckworth? A: To Dayton Moore, about $600,000. HACK JOKE ALERT
Kyle Farnsworth, RP: Q: What's a Kyle Farnsworth? A: To Dayton Moore, about $9,250,000. Seriously, Royals, what's up with you employing relievers whose last names end with -worth?
Josh Fogg, SP: Usually sings along to the National Anthem but feels, deep in his heart, that the National Anthem should be "Johnny Angel" by Shelley Fabares.
Ryan Freel, CF: Thinks and says crazy things and refuses to put his money where his mouth is. ...

... and Ryan Freel, 2003. Harang has been the ace of Cincy's staff and has been a reliable winner and innings eater until falling on tough times due to some nagging injuries this past season (17 losses). Freel is a dirtball utility player that can't seem to stay healthy enough to utilize is blazing speed and solid on-base skills. Perhaps he should visit a witch doctor this offseason to heal his medical ailments. ...
Um, Who’s the Backup SS?
Published 4/23/2008 by Chris at Redleg Nation
Now that Castro’s gone, Jeff Keppinger is the only legitimate SS I can see on the roster.
The Official Site says Jerry Hairston is the backup. Baseball-reference informs us that he’s played all of 17 innings at short - in his 819 game major league career.
Sportsline says it’s Freel. So does ESPN.com. One problem: He’s never played there as a major leaguer.
Yahoo! says nobody. ...
The Weekend Rumor Mill--The Eve of Opening Day

... The Reds continue to shop jack-of-all-trades Ryan Freel, who figures to be no more than a platoon center fielder with Corey Patterson. Freel's versatility, never-ending hustle, speed, and decent bat will make him attractive to a number of teams. He'd look good wearing the pinstripes of either of the New York teams. The Mets, with their need for right-handed hitting, and the Yankees, who lack right-handed hitting outfielders, should both be interested in Freel. Freel would also be a perfect fit for the White Sox, who need help at both second base and center field, Freel's two ...

... - funny that two guys that Ned found wanting are on this list and both of them were traded for each other. Betemit seems to be more of a spare part then ever with Arod entrenched for 10 more years. I think he'd be a great short term solution but then I thought we never should have traded him away in the 1st place. Ryan Freel - Signed thru 2009 for about 3.5 Million. Utility player who can play everywhere but SS and 1st base. Has a hard time staying healthy but he might make a decent option. No power but had 3 straight years from 2004-2006 with an OB% above 360, twice topping ...

... performer and leader. As for shortstop, the 2007 disaster that was Felipe Lopez's season looks very much to have been anomalous. Same goes for Guzman's scorching start in 2007. He is an awful hitter.
There is also a logjam of sorts in the outfield. The Nationals personnel situation will be one to monitor this Spring.
