Memphis vs. Oklahoma City - 2.28.09
Published 2/28/2009 at 3 Shades of Blue
Memphis is struggling and struggling in a big way. Rudy Gay and Hakim Warrick don't seem to be pleased with Lionel Hollins or the Grizzlies front office and you can't help but suspect this has something to do with Kyle Lowry being traded. That is a huge part of the Grizzlies attack. Defensively the youngsters are routinely getting beaten to the paint and that is especially noticeable at the point where Mike Conley seems unable to stop dribble penetration despite his incredible speed and his backup, Marco Jaric, can't throw the ball in the Mississippi River since getting married to ...
How I Made the Final Four
Published 2/26/2009 by Blake Murphy at The On Deck Circle
Remember how last week I was in the first leg of a sports debating tournament? (A refresher.) Well, devoid of a finished article and the motivation to hammer one out, I decide to copy and paste my debates from that event. I won my region and will participate in the Final Four sometime in the future. I’m not saying I debated well in any of these cases, and it was a poor format (it has since been revised for the remaining regions), but here they are.

2008-09 Game 49: Denver Nuggets at Oklahoma City Thunder Game Thread
Published 2/4/2009 by jeremy at Roundball Mining Company - Denver Nuggets Blog
Do not get your hopes up Nugget fans. There is no chance that the Oklahoma City Thunder sit their big three tonight. Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Jeff Green are all going to play.
I get it, you scoff at the idea that Durant, Green and Westbrook should be considered a formidable big three combo? Well, consider this. Over their previous seven games they are averaging a combined 70.6 points, 21.7 rebounds and 11.0 assists. They are also shooting 48.0% from the floor as well so this is not just a result of volume ...

... Blue Blitz's take: "Part of the reason the Thunder had such a successful first half was because they followed the gameplan that I laid out in the preview. Specifically, that means pick n' roll things to death. They got so, so many easy midrange shots and drives to the basket, it was awesome. But in the third, it's like they decided they could do it on pure energy alone. They felt the arena intensity and completely abandoned the gameplan. They started trying to create for themselves, and I even saw Petro take a turnaround jumper with two guys in his face. Hello? Heck, Jeff Green ...

... with the exception of the second half against Phoenix. This is a team that comes out ready to play with a game plan to execute. The idea of playing hard for 48 minutes doesn't allow the starters to ease into the game. Get the ball and go from the opening tip. The competition has provided the juice to come out firing, so I'm looking forward to seeing the team reacts to playing a Thunder team they should be able to handle at home.
