Series Preview: Blue Jays at Indians

... for Rios and the Jays, he’s alright and is expected to suit up this weekend. - Designated hitter Adam Lind opened up the season with a six-RBI game.  Yesterday, he went 3-for-4 with a solo home run.  He’s currently slated to bat fifth, but it would not surprise me if the jays opted to put him in front of Vernon Wells given the way that the Tribe pitching has been sub par.  And yes, I’m being kind. Even Less Well-Informed than Last Season (2009 American League Preview

... They're woefully unexciting and hopelessly buried behind the big 3. They have a very solid pitching rotation, even after losing Burnett, and that should keep them somewhat respectable. But an offense that features Vernon Wells and a horrible mishmash of over-the-hill veterans, middling utility guys and one hotshot rookie (Travis Snider) won't be able to hold up their end of the bargain. Another depressing season for my friends at the Tao of Stieb. ...

Beeston knocks our socks off

... But for the meantime, Beeston will be the interim CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays as the club looks to find a successor to Paul Godfrey. Much like the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Jays are looking to past presidents to bring some front-office stability back to the club. Beeston reassured the media that this is only a temporary solution, but Cliff Fletcher also did the same thing with the Maple Leafs - and to date he is still the General Manager. I agree with the Tao of Stieb that there is a possible conspiracy to bring back every member of the Level ...

... Perennial losers? They're had winning records in 6 of the last 10 seasons. Cellar-dwellers? They've finished last once since Tampa Bay entered the league . . . and that was the only year the Rays didn't finish last in those 10 years. The number of seasons the Rays lost 99 or more games exceeds Toronto's total number of losing seasons since 1998. I mean, I understand winning for the first time is intoxicating, but let's be real here, shall we? Can't imagine our pal Tao taking this lying down. LOOKING TO BEAT THE SOX HERE, TOO: The ...

Adam Dunn Will probably not be a Blue Jay any time soon

[image] According to several Blue Jays' blogs ( Tao of Steib , Drunk Jays Fans ) Toronto GM, J.P. Ricciardi is not a big Adam Dunn fan. Apparently, every Wednesday night, the GM takes phone calls from listeners on a radio show. Fans are fed up with the team's lack of offense and one caller asked J.P.why the Jays were not making a push for Adam Dunn. J.P.'s response was interesting to say the least: "What do you know about Adam Dunn? . . . Did you know the guy doesn't really like baseball that much? Do you know the guy doesn't have a passion to play the game that ...

... I came across the following over at the Tao of Stieb: Watching Game 6 of the 1992 World Series last night, it struck us that the great and knighted Cito Gaston had a propensity to make some bone-headed decisions. Cito inserted Jimmy Key into the game in the 10th, but didn't bother with a double switch which would have moved Key further down the lineup and moving the more defensively sure John Olerud into the field. Instead, Key was inserted directly into the lineup, which meant that he had to lead off the next inning. ...

This is a gross insult to true (powdered) blue Jays fans. These two blogs, in true Canadian style, have dropped the gloves and started swinging, blasting the Jays ...
