Here comes Superman and the 10-4 Magic
Published 7 days ago by jsams at Liberty Ballers
This game could be bad, real bad. One of the Sixers biggest weaknesses is their perimeter defense and tonight one of the best 3-point shooting teams come to town. This is the second matchup with the Magic this year. If you don't remeber the first one, here's a quick recap: Dwight Howard got in foul trouble, the Sixers couldn't capitalize and got embarrassed on national TV. They only lost by 10, but the score could've been much worse. Here's the good news. That loss was in Orlando. Tonight's game is in Philadelphia and the Sixers play significantly better on their home court than they ...

Q&A with Third Quarter Collapse
Published 12 days ago by grungedave at The Dream Shake
In anticipation of the Yao/D-Ho matchup, we exchanged some questions and answers with Ben Q. Rock over at Third Quarter Collapse (a fellow SBNation site!).  Here's our questions and his answers... our answers to his questions should be posted to his site sometime today: 1.   How would you compare Dwight Howard to Shaquille O'Neal at their comparable ages and experience?  While Shaq got to the NBA Finals in 1995, he had Penny and Nick and Dennis to help... what does D-Ho need to take Orlando to the Finals? ...

What's Up With The Orlando Magic?
Published 12 days ago by Cornrows at Indy Cornrows
After a couple of days off with the Orlando Magic set to visit the Fieldhouse Friday night, Ben Q. Rock from Third Quarter Collapse and I decided to swap Q and A's about the competion. Here are Ben's answers to my questions. Enjoy. After stumbling out of the gate at 0-2, the Magic have won eight of their last nine games including four in a row. What has been making the Magic go during successful stretch of games? BQR: In a word, defense. None of Orlando's big perimeter threats is shooting well overall--although Mickael Pietrus has been a welcome exception--so the team ...

Is it just me, or does it look like he's pooping outYi Jianlian? Please tell me I'm not the only one. Today's picture was provided by Geert. The Orlando Magic's "defense" on Chris Bosh: It's not just the 40 points or the 18 rebounds -- 7 of which were nabbed off the offensive glass, by the way -- it's also the fact that he shot a near-perfect 14-for-19 from the field AND went to the line 16 times. And lest you think last night's eruption was a fluke, allow me to turn your attention to February 20, 2008, when ...

It's getting so bad that Kevin Durant is considering his future as a nun. Yahoo! Box Score The Name of Ben Q Rocks Orlando Magic Blog comes to mind when speaking of this game: Third Quarter Collapse. Part of the reason the Thunder had such a successful first half was because they followed the gameplan that I laid out in the preview. Specifically, that means pick n' roll things to death. They got so, so many easy midrange shots and drives to the basket, it was awesome. But in the third, it's like they decided they could do it on pure energy alone. They felt the arena ...

Orlando Magic vs. Thunder: Pre-game primer
Published 20 days ago by noreply@blogger.com (Royce) at The Thunderworld
... Here's some perfect analysis from Third Quarter Collapse: "The Magic might be able to let Durant go off. They have no other reliable scorers. Of course, speedy rookie point guard Russell Westbrook is the sort of player who would light-up the Magic in the past, but he's shooting poorly (32.4% from the field) to start the season. However, he seems to be the most likely Thunder player, other than Durant, to have a monster game. I'm afraid that speaks more to the Thunder's talent than to the Magic's defense, however." ...

Tuesday Notes: Hammond interview, Power rankings, Redd's playlist
Published 22 days ago by Alex Boeder at Brew Hoop
Our man Rob Peterson interviewed John Hammond for NBA.com last week.  Thanks for dropping our name, Rob.  Have we mentioned how much we love Rob Peterson over at BrewHoop HQ? Gery Woelfel writes that the Bucks aren't right without Michael Redd. Luc Mbah a Moute's all-around excellence has a lot of people doing a double-take, but not our friends at Bruins Nation. InsideHoops catches Andrew Bogut in a pretty good mood. That's probably because the interview was conducted a few games ago, on Nov. 2. Basketball is fun again in Milwaukee. ...

Game 7 Recap: Blazers 106, Magic 99
Published 22 days ago by Dave at Blazer's Edge
Boxscore   Woohoo!   This, my friends, was a professional win…the first one of the season really.  That is not to say this was a perfect game.  That’s precisely the point.  The Blazers had serious trouble out there for long stretches of the first half and again at the end of the third quarter.  When they fell short in some areas they made up for it in others, the net result being they stayed close throughout and then pulled away when it ...

With Devin Harris on the shelf, the Nets are suddenly very thin at the point. Dave D'Alessandro: "It seems short-sighted to carry only three point guards nowadays - regardless of what you think of Carter's ability to handle point chores. Especially since a guy like Eddie Gill is sitting at home in Indianapolis: Do the Nets really believe that the $790,000 they'll have to invest is going to break them? Especially if ...

Blogger Q&A: Third Quarter Collapse - Orlando Magic Blog
Published 24 days ago by Truth About It (truthaboutit@gmail.com) at Truth About It - Washington Wizards Blog
Ben Q. Rock covers the Orlando Magic at his blog, Third Quarter Collapse . One thing I know about Ben is that he is all over the place, all of the time. Thankfully, Ben had a couple minutes to answer some questions about the Magic in anticipation of tonight's matchup for the Wizards in Orlando. Enjoy. Overall, I'm fairly pleased with the offseason moves. To recap: the Magic drafted shooting guard Courtney Lee, signed free-agent shooting guard Mickael Pietrus, and signed free-agent point guard Anthony Johnson. Pietrus is obviously the highest-profile addition, as he instantly won the starting job vacated by Maurice ...

Game #4 Preview: Chicago Bulls @ Orlando Magic

[This is the first of our BaB community game previews, which hopefully will both help my laziness as well as get some different voices in on each upcoming game. These will be up the afternoon of the game, and then the official gamethread will be posted right at gametime. Thanks to Calogero for today's preview -ed.] As Matt alluded to earlier, there isn't a whole lot we can take from the 3 games we've seen so far, although it is nice to not look completely inept out of the gate like the Bulls did last season.  Chicago looked pretty good in wins over Memphis and Milwaukee-- ...
