Joey Votto, Miguel Montero in the Club
Published 6/10/2008 by Larry Brown at Larry Brown Sports
... If one wasn’t enough, then two certainly is. It’s always more fun to go join a club with some company, anyway. UtesFan89, who authors the blog Playing for Pride, sends in the news that Diamondbacks backup catcher Miguel Montero took the gas pipe against the Pirates today. If you’re wondering how UtesFan89 happened upon the news, it’s because he concentrates his writings primarily on the Pirates during the baseball season (putting up with such futility is reason enough to visit ...

... as all he can do is hit threes, which he obviously does very well. Tonight is a gut check game as the Nuggets need it worse than the Jazz do. Utah has been great at home, but if the Nuggets play hard on defense as they last night, run the floor and share the ball they can take care of business. For insight, some of it childish (yes I mean you My Utah Jazz guys) check out this trio of quality Jazz blogs: Basketball John Biased Fan My Utah Jazz

ETB’s NFL Week Three Crystal Ball
Published 9/22/2007 by Andrew and Brian at Empty the Bench
... Jets trot a hobbled Chad Pennington onto the field for team morale, but his performance has about as much positive effect on the team s offense and its fans as David Brent s post-dismissal visits did at Wernham-Hogg. The relentless NY media will be unanimously calling for Kellen Clemens on Monday. 8. Travis Henry owners groan in disgust after rookie Selvin Young crosses the goal line for this first NFL score. It ll either be on a swing pass from emerging talent Jay Cutler or on a 20+ yard run. 9. He s a forgotten man now after missing Week 1 and falling out of the limelight after strong performances by Torry Holt and then Isaac Bruce, but Drew Bennett gets back on the fantasy radar with his first score of the season. By season s end, he ll be a weekly flex consideration. 10. For those following along at home, yes, my ETB fantasy football team is off to a putrid start with an 0-2 record and the lowest number of total points scored. Laugh it up, fuzzball. My opponent this week, ...
Collins vs. Araujo

... Losing Hoffa is not a big deal. The numbers per minutes played is also misleading because the vast majority of Hoffa s minutes are garbage. I do agree though that the Jazz need to find some way to develop young players. I hope that Fes is not another victim of the Jerry Sloan system. I do think that he brings something that the Jazz need which is a big body that has an ability to block shots. Young players in the Jazz system do seem to do a bit better when Sloan has no option but to play them. UtesFan89 Says: ...

5 Days Till The Draft!

... 25. Utah - UtesFan89 from Win Or Go Home selects Aaron Gray: He provides the Jazz with a back-up center (no, I don’t think highly enough of Jarron Collins to call him that) that is ready to contribute now. He’s a bit better defender than Visser (which is why I took Gray despite having Visser, and not Gray, in my top-10 prospects for the Jazz. If he can play some D, gather a couple of boards and score when the opportunity comes (a la Millsap), the Jazz will be fine. The wing-spot can be addressed in the 2nd round, as a wing drafted in the 1st probably won’t play much behind Brewer, Fish, Giricek, AK and Harp. Of course, a trade (of AK) changes all of this, but we’ll assume that that’s not happening. ...
