Redsauce Frustrating to watch a good stats-oriented article like this bemoan the overuse of counting statistics like saves & wins and the fact that a player is a good story doesn't make him award-worthy then simultaneously write:
"Halladay had a season almost as good as Lee's, but he didn't win 20 games and did not spend time at Triple-A last year like Lee did."
I'm not saying Halladay should win, but the reasoning here is 1) Wins, something already bashed in the article to not use as the be all, end all; and
2) He doesn't have as good a story as Lee by spending last year in AAA.Gotta love the double-standard.

Win a Date with Natalie Gulbis!
-
Redsauce Do you think I'd win the date with her if I said in my essay that the person behind my success was my wife?

That makes me sick to my stomach.

Alyssa Milano Makes Gary Matthews Very Excited

Redsauce I think this would be more important story if it were "Alyssa Milano Doesn't Make Gary Matthews Very Excited".

La Russa is seeking help now, not later
-
Redsauce Unless the help is for his alcohol problem, I don't think it's going to help the Cardinals in the division.

The National League Needs the DH
-
Redsauce Irish, it's obvious you don't know the history of the sport. Baseball, throughout its' history, has had many, many changes since its inception.
Let me crack an egg of knowledge on you, and I'll stick with your totally arbitrary 50 year limit. In 1969, baseball lowered the pitcher's mound by five inches. This was because of the pitching dominance experienced in the previous years, culminating with Carl Yastrzemski winning the AL batting title with the lowest batting average of a title-winner ever at .301. Also in 1969, the strike zone was shrunk to the area from the armpits to the top of the knees. Oh, but I'm sure you'll come up with a reason why that's good & why the DH isn't. Learn to love baseball for what it is & not be such an ignorant reactionary who would rather spout rhetoric than actually look at the facts.
If it was up to people like you, baseball would still be segregated.
The National League Needs the DH
-
Redsauce You do realize that baseball is an ever-evolving sport, right? If we played it the way it was originally designed, the batter could tell the pitcher where he wanted the pitch.
I'm sure there were people complaining just as hard as you fellas are when that got changed. Just because it's a change doesn't mean it's a change for the worse, get over it.
Manny Ramirez apologizes after shoving Sox' traveling secretary
-
Redsauce No, I was assuming you did not like the Red Sox because you've gone through every story about them in the last 24 hours and badmouthed them. And if it's Manny's on-field showboating you don't care for (non-existent, by the way), why continually harp on his small off-the-field issues?
Alonzo Mourning Being Sued By The Wynn Las Vegas

Redsauce I'm guessing Dennis Rodman is next on the list.

Perhaps I did...
But it's often hard to tell from the written word where sarcasm lies, as sarcasm is purveyed almost entirely through tone.
I absolutely agree with your analysis on how/why Lee might win it.
