Padres Farm Report (31 May 08)

I drafted headley in a keeper draft and assumed he would be in the majors by now.  It's not like the Padres have too much offense and don't need him.

REMEMBERING DRAZEN PETROVIC

great post and youtube video.  I remember fondly Petrovic and the excitement of him being named to the All-NBA 3rd team, the first time an international player was so honored.  He played with a passion for the game and along with Sarunas Marciulionis, broke stereotypes for international players.

I agree with Evil Empire.  This is not a baseball story, but a crime story.  MLB and the teams should stay out of it.

Celtics shouldn't feel good after being taken to limit

i'm definitely not a celtics fan and I think the hawks have exposed some weaknesses of boston.  They'll still probably beat cleveland, but I think orlando will upset detroit and then upset boston.

This is small consolation for Cano's fantasy owners.  But I guess it means it might be a good time to buy low.

it's a nice story, but it doesn't make up for the hundreds of other pitchers who are flinging away at pitches.

it's not like posada has made a big difference with hughes and kennedy so far.

JORGE ON DL

it happens more likely to 36-year old catchers.  The Yankees should not have let their sentimentalism towards Jorge influence their decision to re-sign him this past winter.

I seriously questioned the Yankees' decision to give a long-term deal to Posada, an aging catcher coming off a career year.  Now the news is not getting any better.

that stinks.  I just drafted headley in a keeper league after checking ESPN.com's depth chart which lists him as the starting LF.  Oh well, at least it's a keeper league.  I can't imagine Edmonds, Giles, Hairston being people who can block him for long

Saltalamacchia Lost Catchers Job; Headed to AAA

I have Salty in a keeper league, so I'm a little biased, but if this story is true, I'm very disappointed in the Rangers.  Gerald Laird is NOT the future of the franchise, and was one of the main players in the texeira trade.  Sending him down to AAA makes no sense whatsoever.

He barely gets mentioned in media, but assistant GM Fred Uhlman, who also has been with the Padres for a long time, deserves a lot of credit for the Padres success.
