Blazers issue warning about Miles

torridjoe very smart move by Miller. When GMs start anonymously dropping doo doo in the nat'l media by suggesting that a team violate the terms of a joint venture and act to screw another team's cap and competitiveness while enhancing their own, it's time to lay out a warning.
Note that the email does not say other teams should not sign Darius--it says they shall not do so for the purpose of hurting Portland and gaining for themselves.
This is a warning that a team thinking of doing that would expose themselves to an expensive--and likely winning--lawsuit.
But the best thing for the NBA to do would be to lift the cap penalty on Portland, which acted in good faith on the union-paid doctor's assessment of Miles, that he had a career ending injury. The rule is there to prevent teams from re-signing a retiree at a smaller cap number. If they cut him with the faith that he was done, and he suddenly signs and plays regularly with another team, then why should the Blazers have to allow him to be paid twice?
