ball 2007 NBA Playoffs Pick'em - How to Score

  1. Each of the rounds in the NBA Playoffs is assigned a Round Factor:
    • First Round — 10
    • Conference Semifinals — 20
    • Conference Finals — 40
    • Finals — 80
  2. Starting at 12:00 AM PDT on Friday, April 20, 2007, odds will automatically be assigned based on the picks made for a given series.
    • Add up the number of users making picks in the Playoffs Pick'em Contest
    • The total available points for the winning side will be the total number of participants times the Round Factor.
    • Once you make a pick, you're guaranteed at least the odds that existed at the time you made the pick. This means that if you initially picked a team that loses a few games, and you then switch your allegiance along with hundreds of other people, you will get fewer points than the person who picked the winning underdog from the start. However, if you stick with a team that others are abandoning, your potential points will increase, reflecting the change in odds.
  3. If your team wins the series, you will be awarded points based on the Round Factor and the odds at the time you made the pick (or better, see above). If your team loses, you get zero points.
  4. Example: 100 people enter the NBA Playoffs Pick'em Contest.

The first column in the table below shows one possible combination of how people might call a First Round series between Team A and Team B. In this example, let's suppose they all made their picks at the same time and didn't change them during the series.

    Total PicksPoints per Person
    Team A10100.0
    Team B9011.1

Because it's a First Round series, the winning side will share a total of 10 x 100 = 1000 points. The losers get zero.

Let's say Team A wins. Because only 10 people picked Team A, they would each get 1000/10 = 100 points.

If Team B wins with 90 people making that pick, the winners would only get 1000/90 = 11.1 points each.

  5. In the event of a tie, the user with the highest Game Picks score from all NBA Playoffs Games wins.
