After the final buzzer sounded at Madison Square Garden, the Blue Devils had won a hard-fought 68-59 game against the UConn Huskies and had reclaimed the NIT Season Tip-Off Championship. Duke was back on top. Back on top of another preseason tournament, back on top at Madison Square Garden where the Devils have been so tough to defeat, and back on top of the college basketball landscape. The star scored his league-leading 15th goal of the season and the Capitals beat the Rangers 4-2. Goalie Jose Theodore has returned to Washington for personal reasons and the Caps have recalled Michal Neuvirth and Jay Beagle. Neuvirth, obviously, is here to back up Semyon Varlamov, and Beagle is here just in case David Steckel can't go. Steckel took a teammate's slap shot off the foot in practice yesterday and was last seen limping off the ice at Prudential Center. As far as Theodore's situation, the team has not provided any details. But we'll see what develops at the morning skate, which is set to begin a little earlier than usual at Madison Square Garden.

It's been a couple of weeks since we've seen this: Alex Ovechkin practicing on the top line. There's no official word on whether the two-time MVP will return for tomorrow's game at Madison Square Garden, but this is the first time since Ovechkin was hurt on Nov. 1 that he's been assigned to a line in practice. Coach Bruce Boudreau, meantime, has shuffled his forward combos this morning at Prudential Center. Ovechkin-Backstrom-Clark. Laich-Morrison-Semin Fleischmann-Perreault-Bradley Laing-Steckel-Fehr.
