Just a quick welcome to all the other fans out there. Hopefully, this will become a good place for us to share news and talk about the Bears.
I'm sure by now you know the drill: the introductions thread is where we all make ourselves known for the first time. Looking forward to meeting you all...
My name is Craig. Grew up in Jersey City, NJ and now live in Harlem. I just finished an MA in Anthropology and all I'm doing with it is working part-time as an editor and web developer. Go figure.
As far as sports go, football has always been the love of my life. I've played it and watched it for as long as I can remember. I must have played football almost every day between the ages of 8 and 16. But I actually didn't grow up a Bears fan. My older brother was a Giants fan (I was surrounded by them in Jersey), and my knee-jerk reaction, of course, was to root for the 49ers. I wanted to be Jerry Rice.
Later in high school, and then through college, I had to step back from the game to focus on my studies. When I started paying attention again, 4 or 5 years later, needless to say it was a very different league. Rice was gone and I didn't feel much lingering attachment to the team I'd grown up rooting for. In the meantime, the stint I'd spent as a player (at FS, mostly) had sparked in me a love for play-making, hard-hitting defense. Naturally, then, in my first season back as a football fan, I fell in love with the Bears (I think it was during that miracle 2001 season). This was how I liked to see football played. Since then, I've lived and breathed Chicago Bears football (made my first pilgrimage to Soldier Field in early 2006). And while I'm not on the same level as all of you lifelong Bears fans (I salute you), I do love this team...
Anyway, a bit long-winded, but that's my story. What's yours?
