I almost threw up in my mouth when I saw the wire come across with this news. Every win they get is a credit to the players. Brown is supposed to be some defensive genious, but he can't even get that part right. Usually it's only against good teams that the Cavs have no D, but Memphis? One of the worst teams in the league was scoring at will on Brown. Even last year, I was hoping they would be the first team to win a championship and then fire their head coach the next day.

I was kind of shocked they extended him. I wasn't expecting it. After all, this shouldn't be a .500 team.

I agree with you on all points. The offense has been, is, and will be terrible. LeBron dribbles and everyone else watches.

But what's the front office doing? I find it hard to believe that they aren't able to mess around with the cap in some way that would land somebody better than Devin Brown. It makes me sad inside to think that the Cavs key free agent acquisition over the summer was Devin Brown. Of all people...

Ferry did a great job assembling what the Cavs have now. The problem is they need one more piece. Hughes could be that piece but he's the king of inconsistent.

I think it comes down to this -- the front office wanted to show everybody stability and trust in the face of hard times. So they extended Mike Brown. And instead of being in awe of their integrity, I want to go make myself some lunch...

That's awesome. We were hurting for callers this week. :-)

So, how do you feel about Mike Brown's extension? I think it is absolutely miserable.

Brown can't solve the third quarter woes.

Brown still has no offensive sets to end games other than LeBron dribbling out the clock and shooting a fade-away.

Brown still doesn't do anything good in developing young players. Daniel Gibson basically forced his hand, and yet he STILL got pushed back to the bench in favor of Larry Hughes and Sasha.

I know Brown has had success, but I just don't attribute it to him. He is a good defensive coach, but he is far from a complete X's and O's guy.

Comment by mcfarlp in Can you believe the game that LeBron just had?

It's so cliche, but I feel like I was a "Witness" tonight. LeBron was so "In The Zone" that it didn't matter what Detroit threw at him. To score 29 of the last 30 points in a crucial game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals is just unbelievable. The Cavs will close these guys out in Game 6 this time around.

Comment by mcfarlp in Cavs clinch home court for 1st round of playoffs

Cavs cruised past New Jersey with some nice dunks by LeBron to clinch home court to open the playoffs. The Cavs also pulled their record even with the Bulls (tho the Bulls hold the tie breaker). The Cavs have 3 very winnable games left vs ATL, PHI and MIL. The Bulls remaining schedule includes CHA, WAS and NJ. Washington is very banged up and shouldn't offer much resistance to the Bulls. The Cavs need to hope either Charlotte or New Jersey can upset the Bulls so the Cavs can secure home court thru the second round of the playoffs.

This game could be a preview of a first round matchup with New Jersey if the Cavs win out and the Bulls lose. Go Cavs!

Comment by mcfarlp in Browns have 3rd pick in the draft. What should they do?

Quinn visited Cleveland today wearing an orange shirt. Jamarcus Russell and Adrian Peterson were in Cleveland yesterday. All 3 are intriguing players that could help the Browns get back to playoff contention. Calvin Johnson might be the best wide receiver prospect in years. And what Browns fan could forget about the woes of the offensive line. What should the Browns do with the 3rd pick?

Grady Sizemore took the White Sox deep for the 3rd straight game. He's off to a tremendous start this season. I know he's got good speed, but should Eric Wedge start hitting him third instead of leadoff?

Great way to get the season started. Grady Sizemore smacked the second pitch of opening day for a home run. The Indians hung 8 runs on White Sox starting pitcher Jose Contreras in 1 inning. Gotta love the Cleveland offense! I know it's just one win, but you've gotta love spanking the ChiSox.

Comment by mcfarlp in Have the Cavs found their PG in Hughes?

The Cavs seem to be on a roll since Larry Hughes replaced Daniel Gibson at the point. Is Hughes the point guard they've been searching for over the last two years? It seems like LeBron and the Cavs are playing their best basketball of the season over the last 3 games. LeBron has averaged 36+ ppg with Hughes as PG, and Hughes has averaged 20 ppg over this stretch.
