Slow time of the year for Cleveland Sports, but just wondering if this place has a pulse...

Oh hell yeah.  As long as the Cavs are playing and as the Buckeyes Basketball team heads toward March, I am here.

Also, I have a radio show on WKNR2 that will debut on Saturday January 12th.  That is 1540 AM in Cleveland at 11:00 AM until 12:00.

You can also stream it on their website.  I would love it if some of you people would listen and call.  This is the debut show, so I don't know how many callers there will be.

Hey Sarge, you can have a plug if I don't get all nervous and forget.  :-)  This is show number 1, so my nervous energy is high.

There's ALWAYS something going on in Cleveland sports... Listened to some of the show on your site, Craig.  Not bad.  I may just have to call in next week.

That's awesome.  We were hurting for callers this week.  :-)

So, how do you feel about Mike Brown's extension?  I think it is absolutely miserable.

Brown can't solve the third quarter woes.

Brown still has no offensive sets to end games other than LeBron dribbling out the clock and shooting a fade-away.

Brown still doesn't do anything good in developing young players.  Daniel Gibson basically forced his hand, and yet he STILL got pushed back to the bench in favor of Larry Hughes and Sasha.

I know Brown has had success, but I just don't attribute it to him.  He is a good defensive coach, but he is far from a complete X's and O's guy.

Cleveland: Unnecessarily Extending Head Coach Contracts since 2006

I was kind of shocked they extended him.  I wasn't expecting it.  After all, this shouldn't be a .500 team.

I agree with you on all points.  The offense has been, is, and will be terrible.  LeBron dribbles and everyone else watches.

But what's the front office doing?  I find it hard to believe that they aren't able to mess around with the cap in some way that would land somebody better than Devin Brown.  It makes me sad inside to think that the Cavs key free agent acquisition over the summer was Devin Brown.  Of all people...

Ferry did a great job assembling what the Cavs have now.  The problem is they need one more piece.  Hughes could be that piece but he's the king of inconsistent.

I think it comes down to this -- the front office wanted to show everybody stability and trust in the face of hard times.  So they extended Mike Brown.  And instead of being in awe of their integrity, I want to go make myself some lunch...

I almost threw up in my mouth when I saw the wire come across with this news. Every win they get is a credit to the players. Brown is supposed to be some defensive genious, but he can't even get that part right. Usually it's only against good teams that the Cavs have no D, but Memphis? One of the worst teams in the league was scoring at will on Brown. Even last year, I was hoping they would be the first team to win a championship and then fire their head coach the next day.
