This just goes to show that you have to make the NCAA tourney to keep your job at a major program like Michigan. Tommy seemed like a great guy but that's not what they pay you for.
I think that Amacker wanted to leave Michigan anyway. He wasn't being paid much. The prestige of the Michigan basketball program isn't enough to keep coaches around. That works for football, not basketball. Something I bet you all didn't know is that the University of Michigan has some of the worst facilities in the Big Ten. Sure, Christler Arena is a little old, but it's still nice. However, there's not even any Tivo for the coaches to go get tape of the other team. If they want tape of an opponent, the U of M has to order it ahead of time. Overall, I think that it was a good thing that Amacker is gone. He was a good rebound coach, and had a few years to make the NCAA Tournament. Now the Wolverines need to get a better coach who can hopefully get them into the Big Dance.
