It's great when the "experts" get it wrong. A year ago, I'd written a book about the Red Sox and I credited ESPN Radio's Jason Smith for giving me the inspiration to do so. Smith irked me with his love affair with Brett Favre and the subsequent bashing of Brewers manager Ned Yost and the Milwaukee organization. Now recently Smith was acting like a Greg Maddux fan, wishing Mad Dog would pick up the wins that a minor-league call-up wouldn't for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Paraphrasing what the talk show host was saying, Maddux was one of the best fifth starters in baseball. Well, in Maddux's first test on Friday night, he bombed.
