The big meeting is over at Steinbrenner Field. Hank stopped to talk. This from the AP: “We covered everything, including (Barry) Bonds,” he said. Steinbrenner wouldn’t say if the Yankees are interested in Bonds, but it appears unlikely the team will pursue him. Steinbrenner declined to get into specifics about potential trades, but said “there’s a couple things that might be promising.”

The office television was turned on this morning and Greenberg was rapping with Buster Olney about the possibility of Barry Bonds joining the Yankees. Uh, it doesn’t appear Barry is in playing shape after seeing this latest picture (two weeks old) of the Home Run King at some cell phone store. The gunboats seem smaller and the Man Cans are drooping.
