Are the Sox interested in Huston Street, and
what would that mean?
"I don't think the A's would want that,
he doesn't really fit there need of right-handed power,
simply because he is left-handed." "Besides, who wants 2 .230 hitters in the same lineup? They are both left handed no less..." Remember, being left-handed ...

If you understand the economics of baseball —
Cohn clearly doesn’t, as he compared Beane’s general management
to Communism, which makes 100% no sense — this is how mid- and small-market teams have to operate.
From 1997-2006 the Houston Astros and Oakland A’s
were successful franchises, with the A’s twice cracking 100
wins and the Astros advancing to the World Series. But both teams hit hard times in 2007. The two teams took different approaches coming into 2008 and have continued those opposite tracks during the season. Here’s why it’s better to be rooting for the A’s than the Astros.
The Oakland Athletics made another surprising (well not
so suprising considering that Moneyball was based on Billy
Beane) trade sending Joe Blanton to the Philadelphia Phillies for second baseman Adrian Cardenas, pitcher Josh Outman and outfielder Matthew Spence who are all expected to go to the minor leagues for Oakland. See story for full Analysis . . .
While the Oakland Athletics were only six games
behind the Los Angeles Angels when they traded Rich
Harden to the Chicago Cubs, I don't think many people were expecting the A's to actually catch and pass the Angels. Obviously, Billy Beane didn't ...
Now that the Oakland Athletics have traded Rich
Harden , Chad Gaudin , and Joe Blanton I
don't think there's much doubt left that Billy Beane is probably going to try to ship his closer, Huston Street , to a contending team as well. At this point, ...
Over the past 10 months, Oakland Athletics general
manager Billy Beane has traded away just six players
and received 16 players in return. The talent that he has acquired is simply extraordinary.
Athletics GM Billy Beane made out very well
in the deal, as he usually does. The Phillies
gave up a bit too much for a mediocre starting pitcher. Already with one of baseball’s worst Minor League systems, now the Phillies aren’t markedly better at the Major League level and gave up two good prospects. It’s a clear victory for the A’s.
OAKLAND -- A's general manager Billy Beane made
it clear that he was looking more toward the
future than the present when he traded four of his top players for 13 prospects over the winter, and his commitment to the future was underscored last week ...
Aaaaggh! Another story about Moneyball!! Don't worry, there's
a slightly different angle here...
Kiley brings some International notes to the table
before the Latin American scouting reports
Kiley brings us a scouting report on the
international signing period's Man of Mystery, Michel Inoa.
According to Tracy Ringolsby of the Rocky Mountain
News , the A's assistant general manager David Forst
has turned down all interview requests. The feeling is that Forst is expected to take over for Billy Beane as Oakland GM as early as next season. ...
Billy Beane , Oakland Athletics general manager and
winner of… let’s check … zero World Series rings
since taking over in 1997, has been rumored to be leaving the post for the last few months in search of greener pastures. Those ...
The Oakland Athletics are scheduled to make a
major player announcement in Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic on
Wednesday at 11:30 AM ET. If speculation is correct, the A's will announce the signing of super prospect Michel Inoa . In ...
The Oakland Athletics announced today the club has
agreed to terms with 16-year-old Dominican pitcher Michael Inoa,
generally regarded as the top eligible prospect in Latin America this year.
Raymond Abreu, Billy Beane, Michael Inoa, Edgar Mercedes
In recent weeks there had been plenty of
teams who were interested in the services of 16-year
old Dominican pitcher Michael Inoa . The 6'7 prospect has had scout salivating for a while now, and organizations were lining up for the chance to add him ...
