Billy Wagner proclaimed that he's ready for duty
tonight should the Mets need his services in the
ninth inning. But after delivering that news, Wagner added that he was angry with New York Times' columnist William C.Rhoden for allegedly misrepresenting...
With six days of baseball after the All-Star
Break, the author had a lot of ideas, but
none deep enough to fill an entire column. Here are some more random musings… Just saw The Dark Knight… It was one of the better movies I’ve seen in years. It totally lived up to the hype. In my opinion, it transcended the genre of “comic book movie.” It was an insanely intense crime movie, ...
After the game Billy Wagner spoke with the
press. Wagner literally laughed off the possibility of Shane
Victorino “running him over”...
Are these New York Mets for real? They
reeled off 10 straight wins in the month of
July, which began on July 5th and did not end until July 18th. In fact, the Mets are 19-2 since Willie Randolph ...
The troubling question for the Mets this season
— and it becomes more troubling when you really
explore — is: Who in the clubhouse can stop the bad streak that will invariably come? >
There was no mystery whether Billy Wagner would
be available for Wednesday night’s game. Before the media
could start asking questions, Wagner jumped in saying, “I’m going tonight,” he told the media about an hour before the game. “Give you all something to write about.” Then, with the Mets leading 6-3 heading to the ninth inning, like clockwork, the PA system cranked “Enter Sandman” by ...
WWW.SNY.TVMets manager says the team was advised to
give Billy Wagner a day of rest.
Last night, we saw a rag-tag team of
bullpen pitchers attempt to close out a game. They
failed. Billy Wager is a closer for a reason. Being a closer is more than just throwing pitches. You have to be mentally tough, mentally prepared to have it all on your shoulder. The team could win or lose simply by the way you pitch to (hopefully) the next three batters.
There are two sides to every coin. On
one hand, I leave Johan Santana out there for
the 9th inning to work his magic. That's why he's getting the big bucks. On the flip-side, I can see why you don't want to run your "ace" out there and run up his pitch count, especially with Pedro Martinez ailing. But, your closer is unavailable, and no one has really shone through as a viable replacement. ...
With Billy Wagner unavailable, manager Jerry Manuel tried
just about every other reliever he had and they
couldn't get it done, surrendering six runs in the last inning as Philadelphia prevailed, 8-6, over the Mets before 55,081 at Shea. ...
The questions are endless. Why did Jerry Manuel
lift Johan Santana? Why didn’t Endy Chavez stop at
third? Why didn’t Jose Reyes throw to first? Where was Billy Wagner?
Billy Wagner didnt pitch the 9th and Mets
bullpen was brutal
Taguchi, Rollins key Phillies' six-run rally past Mets
in ninth inning NEW YORK (AP) -- When Jimmy

NEW YORK -- The Mets began their important
series against the Phillies without an important component of
their team. Billy Wagner was available to pitch, if needed, Tuesday night. But an an hour before the first pitch was thrown by Johan Santana to ...
Billy Wagner pronounced himself ready to pitch after
playing catch and throwing in the bullpen before last
night's game, but the Mets opted to be cautious and keep Wagner out of the game. The Mets ended up missing him dearly when the bullpen blew...
From a great writer (even though he's a
Philly fan), Tim Malcolm , in his look at
his team and their journey down the stretch and through it's first 99 games: The Mets And about those Mets. I’d like to think, like most, that they’re too old and worn down and talentless to win the East. But how do they keep finding guys who can contribute past their primes? Fernando Tatis ? Sure the bullpen is ...
