With all of the behind the scenes work
— see next Saturday’s post for details of something
fun and exciting coming to Seamheads — and other writing I have done for the postseason, I have run out of time to do the research that I usually like to do for my Seamheads article. ...

Good morning! Am I seriously blogging at 2am?
Well, that just shows ya how much I love
you people! Just got back from the game and I have toothpicks holding my eyes open. And toothpicks are what the Phillies batters appeared to be hitting with tonight as they faced a
Cole Hamels defeated the Dem Bums in the
Championship Series opener with Brad Lidge recording the save.
After five innings of Game 1, the Dodgers
were in great shape, leading 2-0 in one of
the few games of the series where they don't have the pitching edge. That all changed very quickly when homers from Pat Burrell and Chase Utley put the Phillies ...
You know, I just spent two hours driving
home from the game on the NJ Turnpike thinking
about what to write about this game. Lemme start with a little WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am of a particular generation that ...
One of the toughest series to call in
a while. The Philles come in as an inconsistent
team. While they beat the Brewers convincingly, they only scored their runs in three or four innings. The pitching staff has looked really good. There are some key questions regarding the Phillies. Can the ...
I know a lot of you in Orange
and Blue Country don’t give a rat’s ass about
this post season (Most Mets fans it seems are like my Ranger fans brethren as when the Rangers are not in the Stanley Cup hunt that’s the end of hockey season for them) but I do as I have put my angst and despair of the ...
I love the Brewers because I love Milwaukee.
I love Milwaukee because it reminds me of Cleveland.
So it is with that in mind that I watched with horror and yet more than a pang of understanding while watching Philadelphia’s Cole Hamels ...
Brad Lidge, perfect in 41 save opportunities this
season, was not named as a finalist for the
Pepsi Clutch Performer award. Huh???
Not even a Phils fan has much to
be pessimistic about after Game 1 against the Brew
Crew. Although it seemed like Lidge was about to revert back to his old self you have to give him credit for weathering the storm. The Phils got a lot of star power just not enough depth to get to the World Series.
Here is an audio clip from yesterday's 10/2/08
win over the Brewers. What you will hear is
the end of the game right after the last out is recorded by Shane Victorino. Note: there is at least one cuss word by a fan on this...I don't care, but thought it only fair to warn ...
Lefthander Cole Hamels pitched a gem as the
Phillies offense capitalized on a 3rd inning fielding error
by 2nd baseman Rickie Weeks to score 3 runs and Hamels made the lead stand up holding the Brewers scoreless thru 8. Things got dicey for closer Brad Lidge in the 9th as the Phils won by 3-1.
The Milwaukee Brewers lost there first playoff game
in 26 years to the Philadelphia Phillies by a
score of 3 to 1. Phillies starter Cole Hamels gave up only 2 hits in 8 innings and no runs as he stifled the Brewers all game long. The Brewers did manage one run of Phillies closer Brad Lidge with Ryan
Cliff Lee, who was the American League leader
in wins and ERA, and Philadelphia closer Brad Lidge,
who converted 41 of 41 save opportunities to help the Phillies win a second consecutive National League East crown, are MLB.com's Comeback Player of the ...
Cole Hamels totally mystified the Brewers tonight. They
looked confused at the plate, and even had a
bad defensive game as they were so bleary-eyed from facing Hamels.
The second in a three-part series continues to
explore New York state’s summer college league. Eleven current
major leaguers have called the NYCBL home for at least one season. Tim Hudson, the Atlanta Braves’ ace, played with Hornell in 1996. That same year ...
As you no doubt have heard by now,
Phillies closer Brad Lidge was named the National League
Comeback Player of the Year. Lidge was the obvious choice for the award given how he followed his 2007 season, when he lost the job as the Astros closer, with a perfect 41 for 41 on save opportunities.....
Brad Lidge and Cliff Lee win Comeback Players
of the Year for 2008.
Poor Carlos Ruiz. Sure, the squatty Phillies catcher
has been an offensive liability all season , but
he was one of the only players to get an actual hit yesterday without the aid of shoddy Brewers' defense. Still, the man affectionately known as " ...
