Cooper dissatisfied with Astros pitching

Houston's starting pitching has been bleak the past two games, giving up 11 runs on 12 hits over Friday and Saturday. That is disappointing to manager Cecil Cooper, who said that good pitching was the key to its eight-game win streak.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Houston Astros, Cecil Cooper

Lee Out 6-8 Weeks

Astros outfielder Carlos Lee will be out for the next six to eight weeks with a broken pinky finger. "It's tough to lose him," manager Cecil Cooper said after Houston's 3-1 win. "It didn't look good. He carried us the last month-and-a-half. It's a big hole to fill, but we're capable of filling it. I'm just now starting to suck it up." While the Astros may not be stressing, Lee has been carrying them all season. He is batting .314 with 28 HR and 100 RBI in 115 games this season. Houston is 12.5 games out of first, so I doubt they will make a play for a big name outfielder. Maybe if Barry Bonds is still willing to sign for the league minimum, they would give him a contract -- just a thought. They have a tough schedule ahead of them, time will tell if they can hold it together without him.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Houston Astros, Carlos Lee, Cecil Cooper, Barry Bonds
