Six months ago, Cliff Lee won the first game at the new Yankee Stadium. Last night, he made more history. Lee dominated the Yankees in Game 1, pitching a complete game in the first World Series game ever played at the new ballpark to lead the Phillies to a 6-1 win.

Yankees getting into the Halladay chase

Sporting News staff reports According to a report on SI.com, the Yankees recently called the Blue Jays to inquire about ace Roy Halladay. New Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos has hinted that he would deal his ace to a team within the division, thus giving the Yankees and Red Sox a more realistic chance to acquire the former A.L. Cy Young winner. There also have been indications that Anthopoulos might allow an interested team to negotiate a contract extension with Halladay before trading for him. SI.com reports both the Yankees and Red Sox made a run at Halladay before the July 31 nonwaiver trading deadline. However, then-general manager J.P. Ricciardi wasn't willing to move Halladay to a division rival. Because any team trading for Halladay now will get only one season from him -- barring an extension -- Toronto's asking price likely has dropped. The Phillies begin the long process of the offseason as we take a quick look at what is on the horizon for the team, and what could come in the next couple of weeks. Awards and Accolades With Wednesday comes the announcement of the Gold Glove Awards with Jimmy Rollins having his sights set on a third win as a major front runner. Rollins won the past two years in a row and had his best fielding year yet. Thursday marks the announcement of the Silver Slugger Awards with Chase Utley leading the way in hopes of winning his fourth straight. Utley hit .282 with 31 home runs and 93 RBI, making him a favorite. J.A. Happ has a good chance of winning the NL Rookie of the Year Award on November 16th with his stellar performance in which he went 12-4 with a 2.93 ERA in 23 starts. Ryan Howard, who has already won the NL MVP Award, should receive plenty of votes for MVP, but is considered to be second to Albert Pujols when the award is announced on November 24th.
