During my Huntsville trip I got a chance
to sit down with Cole Gillespie for a few
minutes in the club house. When I entered he was finishing a post batting practice sandwich which contained ham, cheese, and cool ranch Doritos to top it ...
I never even knew that players had the
opportunity to turn down a Preseason All-American honor from
a magazine, but then again...Superman wears Tim Tebow pajamas. According to Florida Today , the quarterback apparently told his SID not to even ...
Last night, the Phillies outsmarted the Mets and
scored six runs in the top of the ninth
inning against the New York Mets bullpen, which squandered an eight-inning, two-run performance from Johan Santana. That got me to thinking: Who is more unlucky, Cole Hamels or Johan Santana?
OK, THIS IS not as good as it
gets. It ain't love, but it ain't bad, as
the song says. It's not as good as the final weekend of the 1980 regular season, when the Phillies went into Montreal tied for first with the Expos and had to win two of three ...
In case you were wondering why Josh Willingham
didn't play, it was because of a sore wrist
. Marlins left fielder Josh Willingham was given the day off to rest a sore wrist. Willingham was hit by a pitch Saturday, but told Gonzalez he ...
Will it be Brandon Webb or Ben Sheets
or Cole Hamels? How about Carlos Zambrano or Tim
Lincecum or Dan Haren? There's no front runner ... yet.
Phillies lose 2 out of 3 to the
Florida Marlins even after another great performance by Cole
Hamels.
1. My starting rotation would look like the
following: Cole Hamels Brett Myers Jamie Moyer Kyle Kendrick
J.A. Happ Trade Adam Eaton or make him another righty in the bullpen to replace Tom Gordon. Tom Gordon should no longer be in the Phillies future. He is no Jamie Moyer . . . . . 2. I would either trade off Carlos Ruiz or reassign him to AA or AAA. Then bring up Lou Marson ...
Yesterday the Philadelphia Phillies were able to solidify
their dominance in the N.L. East by clinching the
#1 position prior to the All Star break. Cole Hamels the Phillies’ ace was able to deal it to Brandon Webb and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hamels administered 8 strikeouts, 1 walk while allowing 11 hits and 2 runs over 7 innings. Ryan Madson received the win while Brad Lidge chopped off ...
Today I’ll be taking a look at pitchers’
LOB%. As a point of reference, last year’s LOB%
leader was Cole Hamels at 78.7%, while the laggard was Jose Contreras at 62.6%. So what this means is we should expect the current leaders to continue to regress a bit, but potentially settle into that high 70’s range, while it’s very possible that the laggards don’t improve at all as typically the bottom...

Lidge’s contract runs about the same length as
some of the other core players: Chase Utley is
signed through 2013, Jimmy Rollins is signed through 2011, Ryan Howard is under control (arbitration) until after the 2011 season, and Cole Hamels is under control until after the 2012 season. So, the Phillies should be competitive at least for the next two or three years.
THE FIGHTINS’ realize that the Phillies’ announcers were
in a nutty mood Thursday night , based on
this little compilation clip from last night’s action against the Braves: First, color commentator Sarge Matthews talks ...
The Philadelphia Phillies brought down the tee-pee in
the Atlanta Braves series last night. The Phillies defeated
the Braves in a 4-1 victory while displaying their prowess in their division by sweeping the Braves both times they met this year in Atlanta. Cole Hamels showed his ace status by pitching 8-2/3 innings while allowing 5 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and administering 7 strikeouts. The ...
FIRST PITCH IS SCHEDULED FOR 8:40 P.M. Actually,
it wouldn't be the worst thing to happen for
this game to get banged and give the Mets some rest before Philly. At least give them a shorter night. Cole Hamels pitching for Philly tonight ...
I’d like to bring to your attention a
couple clips from last night’s Phillies game: First up
- Phillies 2nd string colorman, Sarge Matthews, talks candidly about his “down there” grooming habits. It’s quite disturbing ...
Brewers prospects such as Mat Gamel and Matt
LaPorta get a great deal of attention, and deservedly
so. However, the Brewers have a few ‘B-level prospects’ that are intriguing, including Michael Brantley and Cole Gillespie . Brantley is ...
The Phillies swept the Braves in Atlanta once
again, carried by starter Cole Hamels, who went eight
and two-thirds innings, struck out seven and only allowed one run courtesy a ninth-inning, two-out RBI double from Brian McCann. He was one out away from a complete game shut-out, and it was obvious that manager Charlie Manuel was going to let Hamels attempt to get it. But was it a good decision?
It's amazing how quickly things can turn around.
Heading into this week, things looked grim for the
Phillies, who had lost 11 of their last 14 games and were losing their grip on first place. Now, following a three game sweep of the Braves, everything seems right again. Cole Hamels was the story of tonight's win.... Click the link for more, including highlights.
To Triple-A. He'll start Wednesday night for the
Iron Pigs. Very interesting. Myers had to agree to
the assignment, and did so. Pat Gillick offers praise: "I can't say enough about Brett's willingness to accept this assignment," Phillies GM ...
Charles Barkley appeared on NBC's Philly affiliate last
night to talk with the sporting dudes and waxed
Barkley-esque on the Sixers and Phils. He spent the first portion discussing the Sixers need to be frugal this off-season and then turned to ...
Ay Dios mio. We just stumbled across this...this...abortion
dropped by former Manchester United star Andy Cole in
1999. It's his debut and hopefully last music single called Outstanding. Hopefully, that's supposed to be ironic. This stinks so bad it could "knock a buzzard off a crap wagon from 100 yards". Outstanding didn't even break the UK Top 40. Hopefully Sir Alex gave him the ...
Dunkin' Donuts today launched "Bases Loaded," a summer

Jonathan Papelbon . The promotion is licensed by MLB.com, the Major League Baseball Players Association, and certain individual teams and players as well as 2K Sports. Beginning today, all Dunkin' Donuts cold beverages purchased, including Iced Coffee, Iced Tea and ...
It seemed like forever ago that Cole Hamels
masterfully pitched the Phillies to a victory over the
Red Sox. After losing six straight games, the Phils needed another masterful pitching performance, this time by Kyle Kendrick, to finally get another one in the win column, a 4-0 victory over the A's. Kendrick wasn't dominant, but he was effective.... Click the link for more...
