Last night, the Dodgers' hitters were so inspired
by Don Mattingly's mere presense that they decided to
stop sucking. God only knows what he said to all of them before the game, but he should do it before every game. I would imagine his speech to the guys was something along the lines of, "STOP BEING A BUNCH OF SINGLE HITTING PRISSES AND HIT THE...
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced yesterday that hitting
coach Don Mattingly will return to the team after
the All-Star Break and Mike Easler, who had filled the role on an interim basis, will remain in the organization as planned. The announcement was made by Dodger General Manager Ned Colletti . “We’re glad Don can return to the staff,” said Colletti. “We’re ...
Great article on clutch hitting! Don weighted several
catgories and concluded that ... Rusty Staub ... was
the greatest clutch hitter in the modern era. Jim Rice and ARod don't fare well.
Although he never lived up to the billing
of the next Mickey Mantle, he touched the lives
of just as many Yankees fans in his playing and broadcasting career. My favorite "Did you know" part of the article was that he was the only person to play with Mantle and Don Mattingly, which means he bridged several generations of Yankees fans.

I was just about to give up on
finding something interesting to rant about when I stumbled
upon a magnificent piece of journalism by T.J. Simers. "Dodgers kids still not buying in Perhaps they need some babying since Joe Torre's presence alone doesn't seem to be enough. Bringing in Don Mattingly as hitting coach might do the trick." Oh boy, I can tell this one is going to be good...
Using the eye of fantasy baseball, one can
look back in history and get a feel for
who the fans thought were the best players of each generation. The Fantasy Baseball Hall of Fame expands their list of greats by opening the door to the 1970s. Ryne Sandberg and Mike Piazza get bumped off the "best ever" list for their positions.
In the fourth installment of a series investigating
statistical trends over the past 3 decades, the Fantasy
Baseball Hall of Fame reviews RBI. In an interesting side note, 1998 saw three 150 RBI-men, but this was nowhere close to the all time mark.
Don Mattingly will be removed from his carbon-freeze
stasis and will replace Mike Easler as hitting coach
at the All-Star Break. LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers have decided to replace hitting coach Mike Easler with Don Mattingly at the All-Star Break, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. Mattingly originally was hired by manager Joe Torre to be the Dodgers' hitting coach after ...
...When the Los Angeles Dodgers return from the
All-Star break they will have a new hitting coach.
It's no surprise that it will be Don Mattingly who turned the position down at the start of the season to devote time to family as he was in the middle of a divorce. But he has since told the Dodgers he's ready to join in a full time capacity. He will be replacing Mike Easler.
While I think he could still probably hit
better than Andruw Jones, he's actually coming back to
be the Dodgers' hitting coach. "With the Dodgers' offense ranking among the worst in the league, the club is expected to change hitting coaches at the All-Star break by replacing Mike Easler with Don Mattingly, according to sources close to the situation who requested anonymity because the move...
