After the Reds batted out of order on
Sunday, Dusty Baker said he hadn't seen that happen
since he was a player. Baker apparently has blocked out all memories of managing the Cubs ... specifically April 16, 2004 when he botched yet another double switch.
On Monday, Dusty Baker said "a number of
players called (him) about coming to Cincinnati." Well WHO
Dusty, Who? One name springs to mind ... Barry Bonds.
Sometimes BP’s snarky writers are a little off
on their assessments. “The upper levels of the organization
are still pretty thin in terms of prospects, so Holliday still gets mentioned. Outfield corners who can’t slug .400 should get to be non-prospects pretty quickly, but a nice AFL gave people a continuing excuse to call Holliday a talent.
Baker has repeatedly talked about the desire to
have a do-it-all leadoff hitter with speed. What kinds
of hitters is he looking for further down the lineup? Does he want guys with lofty on-base percentages? The answer will likely not sit well with ...
Dusty Baker has been called a "OBP-hating Luddite,"
but his theory about young hitters is no different
than that of Bill James.
Both could be free agents, and Reds need
pitching BOSTON -- Whether it's simply to catch up
on the past or plot for the future, new Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker has been chatting with his former Cubs co-aces, Mark Prior and Kerry Wood. ''I ...
Up until the last few days, Yankees' GM
Brian Cashman has often resisted the temptation of putting

We'll never see another pennant chase like 1993,

There was a chorus of complaints from Reds'
faithful over the Reds' opening-day lineup, and this has
continued in reaction to subsequent lineups over the Reds' first two weeks of play. I asked folks to submit to me what they felt the opening day ...
by Bad Kermit, Hire Jim Essian! "There are
few things that could kill the natural buzz I
have enjoyed while watching the surging Chicago Cubs whittle the Milwaukee Brewers' lead in the NL Central to a slim half game. The turd pictured to the right represents all of them."
Does Marty have a faulty memory, is he
a hypocrite, or both? Because it turns out that
Reds fans have a sordid past--one much worse than what Cubs fans did the other night.
A fantastic read about Kerry Wood's rise and
fall with the Cubs and how the ballclub mishandled
his experience, mechanics, and injuries.
I don’t see why the Reds would fork
out this money for a manager. Is this the
main problem? Both the hitting and pitching are below league average when controlling for the ballpark. I would think the team could use is resources in a better way and just hire an unproven bench coach for less.
The NL Central has something that no other
division in Major League Baseball boasts – six teams.
One would expect that to induce a very competitive division. But since 1995 the division title has belonged exclusively to the St. Louis Cardinals, the Houston Astros and the Chicago Cubs. In 2006 and 2007 it took only 83 and 85 games, respectively, to win the division...
Cueto was great. Baker made some questionable calls.
Dusty Baker was given a three-year deal Saturday
by the Cincinnati Reds, agreeing to manage the team
