One final attempt to convince Wedge to come
to his senses and not have Joe Borowski attempt
to close games against the Yankees.
The first round draft pick of the Cleveland
Indians apparently has a bit of a rap sheet.

Eric Wedge and Bob Melvin, former backup catchers
who found far more success in the dugout than
on the field, were honored Wednesday as managers of the year.
How does Eric Wedge respond to back-to-back losses
and a current fourth place standing? "At least we
had a chance."
Is Joe Borowski going to cause the greater
Cleveland area to up their life insurance policies this
season, or are Mark Shapiro and Eric Wedge going to ensure the Cleveland Indians have a lock down closer in 2008? Tune in to MVN's Tribe Report for the first look at the back end of the bullpen.
CLEVELAND -- The American League Manager of the
Year Award, in principle alone, is not an honor
that suits Eric Wedge. After all, Wedge is the guy who refuses to even walk into fair territory after an Indians victory to celebrate with his players. He prefers to stand off to the side, applauding his team's work.
At least that is what the headlines will
read if the MLB Awards Season keeps going the
way it has thus far. Bugs & Cranks fills you in on "The Kiss of Death" that struck Josh Beckett and Delmon Young.
The Cleveland Indians have accomplished something their club
hasn't done since 1979: they've lost ten straight games.
Way to go, guys!
While the Cavs were blowing leads, the Indians
took it to the Mariners with Cliff Lee going

Grind. It’s a word that Eric Wedge uses
probably 360 days a year. And I know he
credits this baseball team, after each and every victory, for grinding out another win, and living to grind another day.
On April 15, 2008, Indians manager Eric Wedge
had the following to say about Joe Borowski: “He’s
our closer,” said Wedge. “He’s proven himself to us. If he comes back and he’s healthy, I suspect he’ll be our closer again.”
Tuesday night, I was lucky enough to be
able to cover a Cleveland Indians game against the
San Francisco Giants as a credentialed member of the press. It was most special to me as it was the return to Cleveland of one of my all-time favorite players, Omar Vizquel. I had circled that game on my calendar as the one I would choose to attend, at first as a fan, but after being brought on as a ...
Ladies and gentlemen, the amazing, disappearing... Travis Hafner!
Umpires: HP--Sam Holbrook. 1B--Randy Marsh. 2B--Bob Davidson. 3B--Hunter
Wendelstedt. Ejections: CLEVELAND's Wedge by Holbrook (4th). Time: 3:30.
Attendance: 25,949. Weather: 71 degrees, clear. Wind: 12 mph, in from center.
What is the opposite of second-guessing? First-guessing? Whatever
the case may be, count me among the Saturday-night
quarterbacks (see what I did there?) seriously questioning whether Cleveland Indians manager Eric Wedge has completely lost his mind.
