A few people have tossed around the idea
of the Twins calling up Francisco Liriano and sticking
him into the rotation without pulling anyone out. Ninety-nine percent of the time, a six-man rotation simply serves to deplete the talent and take ...
It looks like the Minnesota Twins are finally
going to call up youngster Francisco Liriano. Liriano has
been virtually lights out over his past giving up just one earned run in his last five starts, a stretch of 35 innings. Even so, the team has been balking at the idea of bringing him back. Not because he isn’t ready but they believe they have five very capable starting pitchers in the majors.

A few Twins tidbits for your off-day reading
pleasure: (*) I spoke to several baseball officials today
but continue to pick up very little trade buzz around the Twins. One week to the non-waiver trade deadline, and if I had to guess now, I’d say ...
The next Johan Santana had a terrible start
to the 2008 season. I should know; I drafted
him. When Liriano was sent down to the minors, I had to cut him because my league has no bench. I picked him up over the All-Star break expecting him to be called up, but he is still sitting down in the minors. Why?
NEW YORK -- The Twins' front office has
said repeatedly that they want to see left-hander Francisco
Liriano dominate at Triple-A Rochester before he returns to Minnesota. And while Liriano might not be happy that he's still in the Minors, he's doing ...
A couple of days ago I made a
case for why Francisco Liriano deserved to be in
the Twins rotation, and last night Liriano presented his own case to the Twins. In 7 innings against Toledo, Liriano struck out 10, while giving up only 2 hits and 2 ...
I still remember the first time I encountered
Francisco Liriano’s name while doing some research for my
old column at Pro Fantasy Sports. At the time I thought I had just discovered a brilliant pitcher that was still flying low on ...
Andrew Kneeland recaps the Twins' loss to the
New York Yankees and tells you why he's not
feeling so bad tonight. He touches on Carlos Gomez and Denard Span flopping spots in the order, as well as the brilliant start made by Liriano tonight in Rochester.
Liriano has gotten better with each start at
AAA, and now the Twins have a tough decision
ahead.
Saturday, July 19, 2008 Waiver Wire: American and
National League (Week 16) Posted by Derek Carty at
1:46pm American League Francisco Liriano | MIN | SP - In Liriano's last ten minor league starts, he has posted a 9.56 K/9 and a 1.54 BB/9 in 64 IP. It's absurd that he hasn't been recalled yet, and his agent is talking about filing a grievance. I expect he'll be called up soon, and ...
Greg Genske, the agent for Twins pitcher Francisco
Liriano , has convinced the MLB Players Association to
file a grievance over whether the Minnesota Twins have violated the collective bargaining agreement by keeping Liriano down in Class AAA Rochester of the International League, rather than call him up. Liriano was out all of last season after having Tommy John surgery, returned to the ...
Francisco Liriano -- and his agent who wants
to investigate and possibly sue the Minnesota Twins --
are all fired up about him being stuck down in the minors. Yes, he has been lights out over his last four starts with the Rochester Red Wings, going 4-0 with an 0.32 ERA, including an eight-inning effort on Thursday where he allowed just one earned run on seven hits with 8 strikeouts...

Hunter and Santana were offered lucrative contracts-the timing wasn't
good, but none of us are in Pohlad's wheelhouse, counting out his read more money. Remember, Kirby Puckett signed the biggest pro ...
Francisco Liriano is doing quite well down at
Triple-A Rochester, winning his last seven decisions and sporting
a tidy 2.73 ERA and 9.6 strikeouts per inning over his last nine starts. Heck, he even had a 26 2/3 inning scoreless streak that ended ...
After winning his eighth straight game for AAA

into the Bigs. And so is his agent . Greg Grenske urged the Player’s Union to investigate why Liriano is being kept in AAA despite ...

The agent for Minnesota pitcher Francisco Liriano is
asking the players' union to investigate why the Twins
have yet to call him up from Triple-A Rochester.
Left-hander Francisco Liriano is "extremely frustrated" that he
is still in the minor leagues with the Minnesota
Twins, according to his agent, Greg Genske.
Francisco Liriano was amazing last night, throwing his
third consecutive scoreless outing. It looks like he'll be
back with the team soon after the All-Star break.

According to Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune
, the Twins don't have a glaring need and
are likely to be quiet at the trade deadline. The Twins are 1.5 games out in the AL Central. They're 8th of 14 AL teams in OBP and ...
As we continue our journey around the MLB
divisions, I look up to find that the Twins
are second place in the AL Central (behind the White Sox!) despite not getting anything from Francisco Liriano so far. Well, don't forget about him because he's apparently showing some signs of life at Triple-A . I wouldn't be surprised if he came up in August and made an impact on the pennant race, assuming ...
