Two of the greatest home run under-producers of all time were teammates: Kirby Puckett and Gary Gaetti in 1984. Puckett hit no home runs (-16), Gaetti hit only 5 (-19). Suggesting the possibility that the Twins’ two titles may have been aided by their team being among the first to discover…well, I’d better not go there. Nor will I point out that Gaetti was bald and had acne and Puckett died young.

In discussing the 25th anniversary of the Pine Tar Game, Rob Neyer thought it was a good time to ruminate about George Brett's possible cocaine use. Gary Gaetti helped turn two triple plays in one game. He homered in each of his first two playoff at-bats. He led the Twins to their first championship in 1987 but also helped two other clubs reach October. He's currently batting coach for the Durham Bulls and has a son knocking on the major league door. Gaetti took some time to discuss his playing days and current coaching duties with B & C.
