The Yankees' series finale in Detroit was one
of three games rained out on Mothers Day yesterday.
The game will be made up either July 24 or September 1. The former date would result in the Yankees playing 27 consecutive games coming out of the ...

The postgame buzz today was about Darrell Rasner.
He’s 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA. “You know who
he reminds me of a little bit? Jon Lieber,” Derek Jeter said. “He works quick, he throws strikes; he’s fun to play behind. He doesn’t take too ...
DETROIT - Two starts have not produced enough
data to know if Darrell Rasner can apply a
tourniquet to the hemorrhaging back end of the Yankees rotation where Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy and Kei Igawa have failed. Or if he is the second coming of Aaron...
Yankees probable pitcher Darrell Rasner Yankees: Rasner was
called up from Triple-A Scranton to make his first
2008 start in the Majors in a game against Seattle on Sunday. He gave up two runs on two hits in the first inning, and then settled in to ...
I just checked, and as far as I
can tell, Ian Kennedy could be called back up
to start Wednesday at Tampa Bay instead of Igawa. Before tonight's game, manager Joe Girardi said "there's no situation we've talked (about) as...
Ian Kennedy had to suck up his pride
when the Yankees decided a trip back to AAA
for some extra seasoning was in order, but rather than dwell on his early season failures and subsequent demotion he is taking the opportunity to show the Yanks a thing ...
DETROIT -- Perhaps Kei Igawa should have taken
it as a sign of things to come when
his fourth pitch of Friday's game rocketed back up the middle, ricocheting off of his left buttock. To his credit, Igawa scrambled and recovered the ball for an ...
Pags has tough words for the Yankees and
Rich Hill.
From Chad Jennings blog : “I’m trying to
say it humbly, but it doesn’t matter what I
say, it’s going to come out cocky,” he said. “You just know. I woke up today and told my wife, I just have a feeling I’m going to make these guys look stupid.” “It felt like it was getting better and better the last two outings, and then I got called into the office and told I was coming here,” Kennedy said. ...
From Peter Abraham’s LoHud Yankees Blog, here is
Ian Kennedy’s line while pitching for Scranton Monday night.
* 7.1 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs 0 walks, 8 strikeouts. Kennedy threw 90 pitches, 58 for strikes. Thanks for nothing there, Ian! Chad Jennings, SWB beat writer for the Times-Tribune said in his blog that Kennedy made Charlotte’s hitters “look like dopes.” So, what did that prove?
Kennedy.jpg So much for lacking confidence. Ian Kennedy
sounded Tuesday night like a man who desperately wants
another crack at big league hitters. “I’m trying to say it humbly, but it doesn’t matter what I say, it’s going to come out ...
No matter how good you are, walks will
kill you. Joba Chamberlain learned that lesson tonight, as
he gave up the go-ahead three-run home run in the eighth inning. The three runs were the first he's allowed at Yankee Stadium in his career. He walked two batters in the ninth inning before allowing the pinch-hit home run to ex-Yankee David Dellucci .
From Anthony Rieber : Kennedy's descent means the
ascent of lefthander Kei Igawa, the $46-million "investment" who
likely will start in Kennedy's place Friday or Saturday in Detroit. Igawa has been pitching relatively well for Scranton; he's 3-3, 3.86 after allowing four runs in seven innings against Durham yesterday. "He's doing OK and obviously, for Kei, it's important that he attacks the ...
The Houston Astros are now at .500 and
just four games out of first in the National
League Central race.
An open letter to New York Yankees’ rookie
pitcher Ian Kennedy. Dear Egotistical Ian, What the hell
is going on with you? You are pitching like crap, but the truth is your attitude is pissing me off more than your pitching. You got rocked again last night, lasting 4.2 innings. Amazingly, with your 8.37 ERA you still didn't see the need for any adjustments in what you are doing.
Top first: Strong first inning for Ian Kennedy
who threw 10 pitches, eight of them fastballs. He
missed outside with his first pitch, then threw two called strikes before a weak flyout to left. Next batter grounded out to short on the first pitch. No. ...
With Darrell Rasner having to be added to
the 40-man roster to start this afternoon, Ian Kennedy
has been optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Brian Bruney has been moved to the 60-day disabled list. Kennedy is 0-2 with an 8.37 ERA in six games (five starts). The Yankees are 1-5 whenever Kennedy has appeared on the mound this season, so this is the right move.
Brian Cashman says Ian Kennedy is "turning the
corner" and "going in the right direction."
Perhaps getting away from the Bronx is all
Ian Kennedy needed to pitch like the pitcher the
Yankees expected him to be this season.
