Moyer doing well after more surgery

Sporting News staff reports According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Phillies lefthander Jamie Moyer had surgery Friday after an MRI exam showed a small blood collection that could have been infected. Moyer, 47, has been hospitalized since Tuesday because of lingering pain related to groin/abdominal surgery on Oct. 2. And this wasn't the first setback following the surgery. Moyer also was hospitalized from Oct. 6-10 with a blood infection, which was a result of the surgery. Phillies team physician Dr. Michael Ciccotti released a statement saying Moyer is doing "very well." Ciccotti added that this most recent procedure is expected to have "minimal impact" on Moyer's spring training schedule. Moyer, who went 12-10 with a 4.94 ERA in 30 games (25 starts) for the Phillies in 2009, will be entering his 24th major season in 2010.
