SS Jimmy Rollins went right to Milwaukee's Jeff
Suppan with a lead-off homer. Lf Pat Burrell and
rf Jayson Werth bashed back-to-back homers accounting for 4 third inning Phillie runs with Burrell going yard for good measure in the 8th. Mid-season acquisition Joe Blanton tossed a six inning gem...
The Philadelphia Phillies found plenty of power to
go with their pitching, right in time for the
NL championship series. Pat Burrell broke out of his slump in a big way with two homers, one a three-run shot, and Jimmy Rollins and Jayson Werth ...

Because NLDS celebrations are all fun and games
until Jayson Werth has to check his messages. (Also,
how much do you think it pains Miller Park officials to see that "other" logo up there?)
Sorry Phillies fans…you can put away the brooms.
Never mind a sweep…this was a game full of
missed opportunities tonight for the Phillies. Perhaps they were all indulging in that famous Milwaukee brew before the game? The offense certainly looked drunk at the plate and the umpiring was equally...

What was at one point a 7-1 lead
in tonight’s game did not wind up being as
easy a win as it first looked. Then again, this team does nothing the easy way. Just ask Jimmy Rollins.
The Phillies ended the season today with a
series sweep of the Nationals, winning today’s game by
a score of 8-3. This game very much resembled a Spring Training game, as all of the rookies and back-ups got the start.
Lefthander Jamie Moyer, all 45 years of him,
repeated on Saturday, clinching a Phillies NL East title
for the 2nd straight season with a 4-3 win. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits in 6 innings as rightfielder Jayson Werth solo homered in the 5th, Pedro Feliz doubled in what was to be the winning run.
Loyal The700Level.com reader Benjamin sends along this shot
of the Phils BP today just moments ago. He
said he hasn't seen Pat Burrell take any swings just yet. Zolecki , however, says Burrell took "six rounds" of BP and appeared fine. UPDATE : ...
Following the Phillies division-clinching victory over the Nationals
on Saturday, Philadelphia stations did a rather poor job
of covering the post game shenanigans. Honest to God, after FOX went off the air, I had a hard time finding any channel with ...

A little wave of the magic bat, and
POOF! Just like that, 1st place is gone. With
the awful 14-8 loss tonight, combined with a Mets win over Atlanta, the Phillies sink to 2nd place again in the NL East, trailing by ½ a game.

Who remembers Jayson Werth as the decent catching
prospect in the Orioles organization? I do, I do.
I think it was his 1997 Bowman baseball card that brought his name to my attention. Anyway, three organizations and a position change later, Werth has received the most ABs of his career and has put..
As pointed out by Mike Gill in last
night’s article, Davey Lopes awkwardly and inadvertently gave us
a glimpse into the future plans of the Philadelphia Phillies and their outfield. Apparently, Pat Burrell isn’t in those plans. The direction they seem to be heading, which I fully endorse, is to
