Big surprise that a Reds shortstop gets injured
right? Jerry Hairston Jr. fractured his left thumb last
night sliding into 2nd base, and is expected to be out 2-4 weeks. The big question now is who replaces him. Jeff Keppinger is rumored to be back by Thursday, but of course they are still going to call someone up. Problem is the only people on the 40 man are 2 catchers... continued...

Keppinger coming back could mean some bench time
for Edwin Encarnacion if he continues his struggles at
the plate. I don't really agree with that, but given Baker's baseball knowledge I wouldn't be surprised by it. Now if only Baker could figure out that Jeff Keppinger is by far his best lead off man on the team. The idea of a... continued...

I'm kinda surprised to see Cabrera get the
call considering he's not a middle infielder, but then
again the pickings are pretty slim right now. I guess this means Phillips now becomes the back up shortstop if Janish goes down with an injury some how. Jeff Keppinger seems to be on the fast track back so that probably had something to do with the move. Continued...
