In today’s 5-3 win over the Cubs, Jayson
Werth accounted for 3 of the runs; he went
2 for 4 including a solo homer. It was his 3rd home run in 2 days.
The Philadelphia Fun Police are at it again.
According to David Lennon and Wallace Matthews at Newsday
, Jimmy Rollins made another reference to the home run celebrations by the Mets. Rollins was quoted as saying: “We don’t talk ...
Whew! Finally, a win at Wrigley! Brett Myers

innings, giving up only 2 earned runs on 11 hits. He also struck out 8 batters.

players who have put together impressive numbers in the
final month of the season.
The Phillies blew a great opportunity tonight to
really take the steam out of the Mets’ sails
as they lost 6-3, after leading the game by a score of 3-2 until the 8th inning.
The Phillies split the two game series with
the Mets and head to Chicago a half of
a game back in the NL East. They won the game they should have lost and lost the game they should have won. 29 games remain to be played this season, and my guess is ...
PHILADELPHIA - Don't look now, but it sounds
as if the Phillies are acting like the fun
police again. When asked about Tuesday's inspired comeback win over the Mets, which involved erasing a 7-0 deficit, Jimmy Rollins made yet another reference to ...

Phillies fans were upset a couple weeks ago
when their MVP shortstop called them frontrunners. This is
much worse. In an interview with ESPN's Stuart Scott on SportsCenter, Democratic presidential nominee (and Chicago native) Barack Obama accused Cubs fans of essentially NOT being baseball fans.
The Phillies won a wild one late Tuesday
night, overcoming a 7 run deficit in one of
the greatest games in recent memory, an 8-7 victory of the Mets in 13 innings. This game had it all. An unlikely hero in the bottom of the 9th with two outs in Eric Bruntlett. Continued redemption by Jimmy Rollins. A near-complete emptying of the bench (only Joe Blanton and Kyle Kendrick didn't get on the field)..
Last Friday Night at Citizen’s Bank Ballpark, the
Phillies ran their ‘Retro 70’s Night’ promotion, which basically
means they photoshop funny little 70’s-inspired outfits and hair styles onto the players and display them ...
Random niceness from last night’s sweep-capping win over
the Dodgers:
I just want to congratulate Gregg Doyel (spellchecked:
“Greg Doyle”) for picking up on this story eight
days after it happened. That’s quality journalism. Wait until he finds out that Gene Upshaw died! In one of his latest ...
Phillies fans hadn't been real kind to Jimmy
Rollins lately, just like they hadn't been real keen
on Brett Myers before the all-star break. But the love was everywhere last night at Citizens Bank Park."If you win, they'll forgive," manager Charlie ...
Brett Myers tossed seven gritty innings, Jimmy Rollins
had three hits and two RBIs, and the Philadelphia
Phillies completed their first four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 23 years with a 5-0 win Monday night. Philadelphia remained a ...
Two weeks ago, the Phillies started a four
game series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. All
four games were close, but the Phillies got swept by Manny and the Dodgers. Fast forward to today, and the Phillies rode Brett Myers and Jimmy Rollins to a 5-0 win to complete a four game sweep of their own over those same Dodgers in Philadelphia. Most of the games in this sweep were not even close....
Maybe every Phillies game should start off with
Jimmy Rollins getting hit by a pitch? It’s happened
twice this week, including today, and both games ended in victories with tonight completing a series sweep of the Dodgers.
It was 70’s night at the ballpark tonight
and Chris Coste and Greg Dobbs emerged as the
Disco Kings! In fact, give a great big Disco cheer to the entire bottom of the line-up!
The Phillies offense did indeed show signs of
life today as they whipped the Dodgers for a
second straight game, winning 9-2. The run barrage began with Jimmy Rollins, the first batter for the Phillies, getting hit with a pitch.
It was a nail biter at the ballpark
last night, as the Phillies won 5-2 over the
Dodgers in extra innings thanks to a Pedro Feliz walk-off 3 run home run.
If there is one thing I hate about
myself... Well actually there are at least four, possibly
five, but right now the biggest one is that I have to be lumped in with the drooling, quivering mass that is Philadelphia sports fans. That this is due to nothing more than a cruel twist of fate (i.e. I grew up in Philadelphia) is one of a number of ironies that most of the OTHER members of this ...
Is New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes the
fastest player in Major League Baseball? Photo: Newscom Baseball

Jimmy Rollins' love affair with the city of

I’m going to try a new type of
column today that came to me out of nowhere
yesterday. As the title of the article suggests, I’m going to be arguing with myself! Mike1 will be in bold and Mike2 will be in italics. Each Mike will have his own opinion on a player and debate his side. I’ve decided to start with last year’s MVP, Jimmy Rollins, who is having a bust of a fantasy season after likely...
Perhaps it is the burden of being the

It only took the poor guy eight tries,
thanks to a slumping offense, to get his 10th
win of the season, but last night, Cole Hamels finally got it. And just barely too.
It seems like everyone hounds ESPN for having
a love obsession with the New York Yankees and
the Boston Red Sox, but lately, ESPN has been in bed with a new team: the Philadelphia Phillies. From July 23 to Aug. 24, the Phillies will appear during ...
Jimmy Rollins finally confessed to the Padres last
night that his lack of offense was due directly
to the Philadelphia Phans negative demeanor. Shortly after receiving that message the Padres proceeded to back hand Rollins until he began crying in the fetal position. Post beating Rollins decided to show retribution by going 0-4 once again just to prove his point. Kyle Kendrick has taken his ...
