Michael Kay doesn’t mean anything he says about
ex-Yankee manager Joe Torre “in a derogatory way.” Nah!
Of course not! After all, he calls him “St. Joe,” doesn’t he? Truth is, Kay has never been a fan of Torre’s. I don’t recall all the details, but Torre and Kay apparently had a couple of run-ins during Torre’s first year as Yankee skipper. Kay has never let go of his grudge against Torre.
From Mike Puma on the New York Post
: The free-agent left-hander told The Post yesterday he
has been working out near his home in San Diego and believes he could bolster a Yankees 'rotation suddenly besieged by question marks. "I'm in shape, I'd just have to fine-tune a couple of things," Wells said. "I'd need a little bit of time, but not much. Physically I feel fine, real good. "New ...

At first glance, the Kershaw Decree sounds like
something you've forgotten from eighth grade history class. An
obscure corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, perhaps, or the legal decision that made it okay for the United States to herd Native Americans onto reservations. It isn't though, as you may have guessed from the picture of Dodgers prospect Clayton Kershaw to the right. The Dodgers would ...
Dylan Hernandez of the Times isn't sure Clayton
Kershaw is joining the Dodgers in 10 days, but
he isn't sure he isn't, either:
Michael Kay was not bashful about criticizing Joe
Torre on his 1050 ESPN radio show even when
Torre was managing the team for which Kay works as a play-by-play man. With Torre on the West Coast, though, Kay has added another layer to his Torre ...
On Deck is FanHouse's look at the day's
most intriguing baseball matchups Pittsburgh Pirates (13-19) vs. San
Francisco Giants (14-19) - 7:05PM Est. The Giants tried Barry Zito as a starting pitcher for a little over a year, but it didn't work ...
For the record, Joe Torre is a former
Mets manager. So while this might seem better suited
for Mark Feinsand’s Blogging the Bombers, here’s what Torre had to say before facing the Mets for the first time as Dodgers skipper. On Willie ...
On April 5, Dodgers manager Joe Torre replaced
outfielder Matt Kemp with veteran Juan Pierre in the
starting lineup against the division-rival Padres. "Kemp's struggling," Torre said then of the 23-year-old, who was 2-for-15 with six strikeouts. "The ...
LOS ANGELES Joe Torre is gone from
New York, but he has a pretty good idea
of what it will take for fans at Shea Stadium to stop raining boos on the Mets at the drop of a bat. Winning games in October should do. Torre addressed mostly New ...
The Dodgers' opening-day left fielder has been out
of the starting lineup for three of the last
four games, but Andre Ethier wasn't about to raise a ruckus about it. "I am not in a position to say anything about it," Ethier said before the Dodgers ...

Sitting high above the field here at Nationals
Park on what looks like it will be a
beautiful day for a ballgame. Only Joe Torre's Los Angeles Dodgers, on a six-game winning streak, have won more games in a row than the Nationals have. Imagine if ...
Last June, as the Orioles flopped around the
American League like a fish a pier, one of
the very first things new poobah Andy MacPhail did was offer Joe Girardi the Baltimore managerial posit ion. Girardi managed the Marlins for one year and gamely ...
DENVER -- The day after Esteban Loaiza's 2

DENVER -- Russell Martin got a day off
Friday. Kind of. Martin made his first career start
at third base, something the All-Star catcher called "a treat." Manager Joe Torre referred to it as "half a day off." Martin played third in two previous ...
We've been really busy over here at the
SoSG offices, what with May Day rallies, Cinco de
Mayo preparation, and early morning baseball like we had today (Dodgers beat the Marlins 5-3, extending their winning streak to six) which has us passed out by ...
Now I know how Joe Torre felt.
Had Joe Torre deigned to leave a note
for his successor, Joe Girardi, advising him on the
do's and don'ts of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry, this almost certainly would have been at, or near, the top of his list:
Surely, 99% of Dodger fans would've gladly switched
Grady Little for Joe Torre at the end of
last season. I'm not so sure they feel the same way right now. Torre has seriously screwed with Chad Billingsly's rest schedule and he's repeatedly benched ...
