Manny Ramirez has been entrenched as the Dodgers' cleanup hitter from the moment he first suited up in Dodger Blue, but manager Joe Torre flipped Ramirez and usual No. 3 hitter Jeff Kent in the batting order on Thursday, hoping to spark his struggling offense.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Los Angeles Dodgers, Manny Ramirez, Joe Torre, Jeff Kent

I Hope Joe Torre Is Laughing Because He Deserves Too!

There’s officially no hope. Between the horrible pitching all year, the lack of clutch hits, the poor coaching, and atrocious managing, the Yankees should have seen this coming for quite some time. And honestly the situation may not get better for quite a while.
And you know the one man who looks like a genius now? Joe Torre, that’s who! The man should enjoy every moment of watching Brian (the weasel) Cashman’s plans blow up in his face and he should slightly chuckle to himself every time A-Rod can’t cash in RBIs in a clutch spot. The man should be belly-laughing for a long while whether the Dodgers make the playoffs or not!
Here’s why I say this: the Yankees may be a few years away from being dominant even after they spend anywhere from 60 – 95 million upgrading their roster. And why in the world would anyone want ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Joe Torre, Al Reyes, New York Yankees

Harper: Girardi's grim as staff leaves him disarmed

The karma hasn't been right all season. Maybe it has something to do with Joe Girardi, and the clenched-jaw vibe he gives off, maybe it doesn't. But these Yanks haven't responded to tough times the way they did for Joe Torre.

The Dodgers initially tell Sturtze they would designate him for assignment to clear a roster spot for reliever Cory Wade. After a few minutes, they change their minds.
                         >

Tanyon Sturtze sat at his locker Wednesday afternoon, packing his bags and shaking hands with teammates. Dodgers Manager Joe Torre had just told the reliever that the team had cut him.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Tanyon Sturtze, Cory Wade, Joe Torre, Los Angeles Dodgers

Dodgers' attitude is questioned

Joe Torre is the good cop, Larry Bowa is the bad cop

On the day after Dodgers coach Larry Bowa said the team should be "embarrassed" by its performance in Philadelphia, Manager Joe Torre held a closed-door meeting Tuesday, reminding his players a division title remains within their grasp and urging them to shed the frustration that accompanied getting swept by the Phillies.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Larry Bowa, Joe Torre, Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies

Baseball Trots Out Instant Replay

For the first time, Major League Baseball will introduce a limited instant replay system to review questionable home runs -- a decision that counters the sport's tradition-bound ethos and subjects its most thrilling play to a new measure of scrutiny.
