NEW YORK - As Jose Reyes circled the
bases at Shea Stadium with his right index finger
held high in the air after his go-ahead, three-run home run off Ryan Madson on Wednesday night, Phillies broadcaster Larry Andersen suggested on air that one of ...

Appearing on WFAN this morning, Omar Minaya said
he had no problem with the way Jose Reyes
celebrated after hitting a home run in the sixth inning of Wednesday night’s Mets-Phillies game.
When Jose Reyes lifts his one finger in
the air after putting his team up by three
runs, it's called "showboating" and Philly announcers want someone to "put a ball in his neck." When Wright jumps up, pumps his fist and screams, no one even mentions it.
Who was more upset at Jose Reyes’ celebratory
trip around the bases: Ryan Madson (the pitcher who
served it up) or Larry Anderson (former major league pitcher turned Phillies broadcaster)?
Larry Andersen's comments about Jose Reyes have accurately
painted him as a steaming pile of stupid.
The main topic on WFAN this morning has
been the way Jose Reyes reacted to a 3
run homerun that put the Mets ahead of the Phillies in a huge game.
Jose Reyes has Charlie Manuel seeing red. Manuel
criticized Reyes for celebrating after hitting a three-run home
run Wednesday. Manuel told Philadelphia Daily News beat writer
Bob Raissman has quotes from Fred Wilpon where
he admits to screwing up the Willie Randolph firing.
From Raissman: Fred Wilpon said he learned something from firing Willie Randolph. And it is this: The next time he fires a manager he'll do it in the light of day, when reporters are not sleeping. --- "I said (to Omar Minaya) 'When are you going to do this?' He said 'After the game (Me
With six days of baseball after the All-Star
Break, the author had a lot of ideas, but
none deep enough to fill an entire column. Here are some more random musings… Just saw The Dark Knight… It was one of the better movies I’ve seen in years. It totally lived up to the hype. In my opinion, it transcended the genre of “comic book movie.” It was an insanely intense crime movie, ...
Yesterday, I told the Mets to burn this
image into their memory. I told them to use
it as motivation for their games against Philadelphia and beyond. Well after Jose Reyes hit his three run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the Mets in the lead for good, Reyes showed his rebuttal to Jimmy Rollins' celebration.
Jose Reyes really enjoyed his tie-breaking 3-run homer
last night. Like finger-in-the-air-as-he-rounded-first, did-a-little-dance-on-his-way-into-the-dugout enjoyed it.
After celebratory jaggov Jose Reyes launched a 3-run
shot in the sixth inning and did his tired
handshake routine with his teammates, the usually mild-mannered Chris Wheeler gave him a piece of his mind: I never thought I’d say ...
The questions are endless. Why did Jerry Manuel
lift Johan Santana? Why didn’t Endy Chavez stop at
third? Why didn’t Jose Reyes throw to first? Where was Billy Wagner?
Don't look now but the streaking New York
Mets have not only climbed back in to the
National League East pennant race, but have forged a tie with the Philadelphia Phillies. The slumping Phillies now have a three game set with the Mets starting Tuesday with first place on the line. Philadelphia has been fading fast as they have lost 20 of their last 34 games. ...
It's the bottom of the tenth inning on
Sunday. The Mets are up by two, bringing in
their closer Billy Wagner. Two pitches in, both Jerry Manuel and trainer Rey Ramirez begin trotting out to the mound to check on Wagner, for an injury they think he has. Billy shrugs them off, and flashes a smile as they walk away. He proceeds to strike out the side, in order, and seal up a win for his ...
Very simple. Between Yankee outfielder Brett Gardener and
Mets shortstop Jose Reyes, who do you think is
faster?
Screaming Sports' Billy Smith break out MLB Buy
'n Sell and runs down a short list of
players you should be buying or selling. Kyle Loshe? Believe it or not, it's time to sell. Jose Reyes? Grab him while he's hot!
During the fourth inning, Jose Reyes hit his
11th triple of the season which broke the Mets
all-time record of 62 previously held by Mookie Wilson. Reyes now holds the record with 63 and that will continue to rise throughout his Mets career. Reyes has averaged 10.5 triples a season since his debut in 2003, although during '03-'04 he only played in 122 games, which was cut short due to ...
In the two weeks since the Mets called
up Argenis Reyes, he has become a good-luck charm
to match any pendant, shoe-lacing habit or favorite pair of socks. >
